Admin September 20, 2026

A case of mobile toilet theft occurred in Hefei, Anhui. The thief, Xia, has been taken into criminal custody, and the case is under further trial or investigation.

Basic Case Information

On the evening of August 29, the Daxing Police Station of Yaohai Public Security received a report that a mobile toilet placed near the intersection of Tianmen Mountain Road and Longgang Road had been stolen. After investigation, the police found the stolen mobile toilet at Xia's doorstep on September 1.

Reason for Theft

Xia's family has a large number of members, including an elderly person over 90 years old. The elderly person has difficulty using the toilet and occupies it for a long time, causing inconvenience for other family members. While taking a walk, Xia accidentally noticed a mobile toilet in a yard by the roadside and had the idea of stealing it home.

Theft Process

On the evening of August 29, Xia found two people and, under the pretext of moving something, stole the mobile toilet home. This act was a premeditated theft. Xia not only had the idea of theft but also sought assistance from others to carry it out, seriously violating laws and regulations.

Value of the Toilet and Handling Result

The stolen toilet was brand new and unused, valued at over 5,000 yuan. According to relevant laws, those who steal public or private property with a relatively large value, or engage in multiple thefts, burglaries, thefts with lethal weapons, or pickpocketing, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention, or public surveillance, and shall also, or shall only, be fined. Xia's act has constituted the crime of theft. Currently, Xia has been taken into criminal custody and will face a fair trial by law.

This case also reminds the general public to abide by laws and regulations and not to resort to illegal means for temporary convenience or needs. If there are indeed practical problems at home, such as the elderly having difficulty using the toilet, they should be resolved through legal and reasonable channels, such as communicating and coordinating with relevant departments to seek appropriate solutions.
