Small Container House Self-Assembly

Admin September 16, 2026

Small container houses can be self-assembled, but it requires certain skills and adherence to standardized procedures.

I. Feasibility Basis for Self-Assembly
The modular design of container houses is the core premise for their self-assembly. Factories dismantle the houses into standardized modules, completing the main structure, water and electricity pipelines, waterproofing, and interior decoration (such as bathrooms and cabinets). Users receive semi-finished modules. For example, domestic steel structure modular intelligent production lines can produce 50 modules per day with manufacturing precision controlled within 1-2 millimeters, providing a high-precision foundation for self-assembly. Users only need to complete on-site assembly, significantly lowering the technical threshold compared to traditional construction.

II. Key Steps and Precautions for Self-Assembly

  1. Purchase Stage

    • Structural Type Selection: Welded integral containers have strong deformation resistance and are suitable for frequent movement; bolt-connected modular containers require inspection of connection node tightness. It is recommended that the steel wall thickness of columns and bottom beams be 1.5-3 millimeters, with thicker walls providing stronger load-bearing capacity.
    • Coating Process: Hot-dip galvanizing treatment offers longer corrosion resistance, especially suitable for areas with large diurnal temperature variations and significant humidity changes.
  2. Ground Preparation

    • After removing loose soil and debris, compact the original soil layer. For long-term use, pour a concrete strip foundation (width 30-50 centimeters, depth determined by the frost line), with a top surface level error not exceeding 5 millimeters.
    • For short-term use, prefabricated concrete pads or steel plates can be used, with pad spacing not exceeding 2 meters and a crushed stone leveling layer laid underneath.
  3. Lifting and Assembly

    • Use steel wire ropes with sufficient load-bearing capacity to ensure all lifting points are synchronized to avoid container distortion.
    • After the container is positioned, check the fit between the bottom beam and the foundation pad. Use thin steel sheets to fill any local gaps, with a level error controlled within 2 millimeters per meter.

III. Cost and Advantages of Self-Assembly
The cost of self-assembly is significantly lower than that of traditional construction. For example, the total price of a 100-square-meter container office is approximately several tens of thousands of yuan, and it can be reused; the total cost of a 15-square-meter container-renovated residence can be controlled within 110,000 yuan. Additionally, modular design eliminates the need for complex civil engineering works, and relocation does not generate construction waste, aligning with green and environmentally friendly principles.
