The Simplest Mobile Toilet
Admin October 07, 2026
The simplest mobile toilet can be achieved by modifying water storage tanks or barrels. The specific plans are as follows:

I. Water Storage Tank Modification Plan
- Basic Structure: Select two plastic water storage tanks with open tops as the main bodies. Fix universal wheels at the bottom using plastic pallets to form a movable base. The water storage tanks should have a certain load-bearing capacity. It is recommended to choose industrial-grade plastic tanks with a capacity of 50 - 100 liters.
- Functional Module Installation:
- Excretion System: Install a simple toilet (such as a plastic seat ring + a waste bag) at the top opening of one of the water storage tanks. Connect a drain pipe at the bottom to lead directly into the tank body.
- Washing System: Cut a rectangular opening on the side of the other water storage tank, embed a washbasin, and connect a faucet. The water source for the faucet can come from an independent water tank or be directly connected to an external water supply.
- Door Design: Cut out a doorway at the connection between the two water storage tanks. Install a plastic or metal door frame and equip it with a lock to ensure privacy.
- Drainage and Sealing: A drainage port should be reserved at the bottom of the tank body, and a valve should be installed for easy cleaning. All cut edges should be sealed with waterproof glue to prevent leakage.
II. Water Storage Barrel Modification Plan
- Basic Structure: Split a large plastic water storage barrel (such as a 200-liter chemical barrel) horizontally in the middle. Fix universal wheels at the bottom using wooden boards. Use wooden strip frames to support the barrel body and increase its height (it is recommended that the total height be 1.8 - 2 meters).
- Functional Module Installation:
- Walls and Roof: Use the side opening as a door frame and embed transparent plastic soft panels to form the walls. Place the other half of the split barrel cover on the top as the roof and connect it with hinges for opening and closing.
- Excretion System: Install a simple toilet inside, with a drain pipe leading directly to the bottom of the barrel body. If a shower function is required, a simple bathroom heater (requiring an external power supply) and a waterproof curtain can be added.
- Storage Space: Use the remaining space in the barrel body to store cleaning tools or spare consumables.
- Ventilation and Lighting: Open ventilation ports at the top of the walls and install exhaust fans or louvered windows. A transparent plastic panel can be embedded above the door to improve lighting.
III. Plan Comparison and Applicable Scenarios
- Water Storage Tank Plan: It has a more stable structure and is suitable for long-term use or scenarios with frequent use by multiple people (such as construction sites and temporary events).
- Water Storage Barrel Plan: The materials are easy to obtain, and the production cost is lower. It is suitable for short-term emergency needs (such as disaster relief and wild camping).
Both plans are modified using recycled materials, which conform to the concept of environmental protection. Moreover, they can be quickly assembled and disassembled for transportation, making them cost-effective solutions for temporary sanitary facilities.
