Sheqiao Cement Prefabricated House

Admin September 18, 2026

Cement prefabricated houses are a form of construction that involves the rapid on-site installation of pre-processed modules. They offer advantages such as low cost and fast construction speed, but they have performance deficiencies in disaster resistance, sound insulation, and heat insulation, so they need to be reasonably selected according to the usage scenario.

Core Characteristics of Cement Prefabricated Houses

Cement prefabricated houses are constructed by prefabricating modules such as floor slabs and walls in a factory and then transporting them to the construction site for assembly. A typical case can complete the construction of a 200-square-meter house within 4 hours. The main structure adopts reinforced concrete, and high-strength mortar is used to fill the module joints, with a warranty period of up to 70 years. Their core advantages include:

  • Low construction cost: Factory production reduces on-site construction processes, significantly lowering material and labor costs.
  • Fast construction speed: Modular installation greatly shortens the construction period, making it suitable for emergency housing or temporary building needs.
  • Simple process: It has relatively low technical requirements for construction personnel, facilitating large-scale promotion.

Defects and Risks of Cement Prefabricated Houses

Despite their efficiency advantages, their structural characteristics lead to the following problems:

  • Weak disaster resistance: The poor sealing of the assembled structure makes it prone to collapse due to joint breakage during earthquakes and is also vulnerable to water damage under flood impact.
  • Poor sound insulation and heat insulation performance: The direct assembly of cement components results in high heat and sound conduction efficiency. Additional heating is required in winter and strong cooling in summer, reducing living comfort.
  • Insufficient waterproofing ability: The joints between modules are the main channels for rainwater leakage. Long-term use may cause damage to the decoration of the lower floor due to water leakage from the upper floor, and may even lead to neighborhood disputes.
  • Limited appearance and functionality: Early designs focused mainly on practicality, resulting in a monotonous appearance and a lack of humanized designs such as living rooms without windows and damp kitchens and bathrooms.

Suitable Scenarios and Expert Recommendations

Cement prefabricated houses are more suitable for residential needs in non-seismic zones and low-rise buildings (no more than 5 floors), such as rural self-built houses or temporary resettlement sites. By optimizing the design of the assembly joints (such as adding waterproof layers and sound insulation cotton), some of the performance deficiencies can be partially compensated for. However, for old prefabricated panel houses, the safety of the main structure should be regularly evaluated to avoid safety accidents caused by structural aging. At the same time, blind demolition should be avoided to prevent resource waste or fluctuations in housing prices.
