Shenzhen's New Type of Mobile Toilets

Admin September 24, 2026

Shenzhen's new type of mobile toilets mainly include three types: the 'Space Capsule' Smart Public Toilet, the Tidal Public Toilet, and the Integrated Smart Restroom, each featuring innovative design elements.

The 'Space Capsule' Smart Public Toilet is centered around AI design and carbon neutrality concepts, taking only 45 days from planning to completion, significantly shortening the construction cycle. Its internal space is scientifically planned, with a total of 36 toilet stalls, including 22 for women and 14 for men and urinals, effectively addressing the imbalance in toilet demand caused by gender differences. Additionally, this type of public toilet includes third restrooms, baby care rooms, and makeup rooms to meet the needs of special groups and diverse requirements. The exterior design is stylish, harmonizing with the surrounding environment and adhering to the principle of 'one toilet, one landscape,' becoming an integral part of the urban landscape.

The Tidal Public Toilet achieves dynamic adjustment of toilet stalls through physical partitions, representing Shenzhen's innovative solution to the issue of women queuing for toilets. Since its pilot implementation in 2023, six Tidal Public Toilets have been built in Nanshan District, optimizing toilet stall usage efficiency by flexibly allocating the ratio of male to female toilet stalls. In terms of supporting facilities, this type of public toilet introduces an intelligent toilet guidance system that displays real-time toilet stall usage, reducing user waiting time. Additionally, dedicated administrators are on duty to ensure cleanliness and proper equipment operation, enhancing the quality of public services.

The Integrated Smart Restroom adopts a one-piece design, integrating 5G IoT intelligence and green environmental protection technologies, offering the advantages of rapid deployment and flexible relocation. Its IoT intelligent system can monitor environmental parameters (such as temperature, humidity, and air quality) in real-time and automatically adjust ventilation, lighting, and other equipment to reduce energy consumption. This type of public toilet is suitable for various scenarios, including scenic spots, municipal roads, and parks, especially areas with high temporary or mobile demand. Its modular structure enables quick installation and disassembly, reducing the land resource occupation associated with traditional public toilet construction.

Through technological innovation and functional optimization, Shenzhen's new type of mobile toilets not only enhance the service level of urban public sanitation facilities but also embody intelligent, green, and humanized design concepts, providing a reference model for other cities.
