Shaoxing Container House Size Diagram

Admin September 15, 2026

The common size of container houses in Shaoxing is 3 meters × 6 meters as the mainstream, with various specifications available to suit different scenarios. The following is an explanation from four aspects: standard sizes, special specifications, custom types, and international standards.

I. Standard Size Specifications
The most common standard size for container houses is 6 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2.8 meters in height, with an internal clear height of approximately 2.6 meters and an expanded area of about 18 square meters. This size can accommodate a double bed, a simple desk, and a standing wardrobe, offering high space utilization without feeling cramped, suitable for construction site offices and temporary residences. Its advantages include easy hoisting, compliant transportation, and reasonable internal circulation design, making it a versatile basic model for construction sites. Additionally, the 9-square-meter specification, measuring 3 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2.8 meters in height, is also relatively common, but due to lower material utilization, it is usually only produced when customers have special requirements.

II. Special Scenario Specifications
For specific needs, container houses have extended specifications:

  • A 21-square-meter specification measuring 7 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2.8 meters in height, often used for two-story container mobile homes, equipped with corridors and balconies to enhance living comfort;
  • A specification measuring 3 meters in length, 6 meters in width, and 2.8 meters in height, with a more spacious interior that can accommodate sofas, coffee tables, and other furniture, suitable for temporary shops or exhibition halls;
  • An extra-long specification measuring 3 meters in length and 12 meters in width, achieved through splicing, suitable for large-scale commercial displays or multifunctional event spaces.

III. Custom Type Specifications
The sizes of custom container houses are flexible and can be adjusted according to customer needs for length, width, and height parameters. For example, by splicing 40-foot containers (12.02 meters × 2.35 meters × 2.39 meters), a duplex structure can be formed, with dimensions after splicing reaching 11.8 meters × 6.75 meters × 2.8 meters, and the usable area expanded to 80 square meters, meeting multifunctional needs such as living rooms, bedrooms, and office areas. Custom types are commonly found in hotels, homestays, resorts, and other scenarios, requiring consultation with manufacturers to determine specific sizes and functional modules.

IV. International Standard Specifications
The internationally recognized sizes for dry cargo containers include:

  • 20-foot containers (internal dimensions: 5.898 meters × 2.352 meters × 2.39 meters);
  • 40-foot containers (internal dimensions: 12.024 meters × 2.352 meters × 2.39 meters);
  • 40-foot high cube containers (internal dimensions: 12.024 meters × 2.352 meters × 2.68 meters).
    These specifications are primarily used for the modification of shipping containers, requiring compliance with international transportation standards, but they can also be applied in the construction field through structural adjustments.
