Self-made Mobile Toilet Renovation

Admin September 21, 2026

There are mainly three methods for renovating self-made mobile toilets: using water storage barrels, water storage tanks with pallets, and chemical barrels. Details are as follows:

Renovation Using Water Storage Barrels

First, use an angle grinder to split the water storage barrel in half lengthwise. Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board for easy mobility, and then use wooden strips and self-tapping screws to increase the height of the barrel. Next, create an opening on the side of the barrel, install sponge strips to form a door frame, and insert plastic soft boards to create walls, using the upper half as the roof. Drill a hole at the bottom of the barrel to install a drain pipe to form a floor drain, drill holes on the side to connect fittings, and drill a hole at the bottom to install a fitting and place a plastic bucket as a small water storage device. Then, install a bathroom heater made from water pipes, connect a tee and a showerhead, place a toilet and install a water tank, secure it with glass glue, and connect the drain pipe to the sewage tank. Finally, horizontally connect a water pipe to the outlet pipe tee and extend it to the doorway as the inlet pipe for the sink, install relevant fittings and hoses, and drill a hole in the door to install a fitting.

Renovation Using Water Storage Tanks and Pallets

Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of a pallet and place a water storage tank retrieved from a garbage station on it. Use an angle grinder to cut along the marked line at the top of the tank to remove the top, then invert another tank with an open top and stack it on the first tank, securing the outer frame with self-tapping screws. Cut rectangular openings in the outer frame and body of the tank to form a doorway, drill a hole in the interior floor, insert an elbow and a water pipe, and seal the gaps, cutting off any excess pipe. Align the toilet with the drain hole, secure it with glue, fix the water pipe with wall clips, install a faucet, secure a pipe cap with screws at the bottom, drill a hole in the water pipe to serve as a drain outlet, drill a hole in the pipe cap, apply glass glue, and fix a sink made from a stainless steel basin. Connect the inlet pipe to the toilet water tank, connect the shower hose, install a shower bracket and toilet seat, install a spray-type showerhead made from a water pipe, fix a wooden board as a door, and install a door handle.

Renovation Using Chemical Barrels

Find two large chemical barrels, remove the steel bars on top, and use a cutting machine to completely cut off the plastic lids. Invert the two plastic barrels and place them together, securing the upper and lower iron frames. Cut an opening the size of a door frame on one side, and also cut the inner barrel accordingly. Use rectangular iron sheets and screws to secure the gaps between the two plastic barrels. Drill holes in the corners of the barrels to install PVC pipes, apply sealant, cut off any excess PVC pipes, place a toilet and install a water tank, secure them with glue, connect and install the inlet pipe and sink. Use PVC pipes to make a shower and connect and install it, install two wooden doors using hinges and install handles, extend and connect the inlet pipe, and test all functions.
