RV Mobile Toilet Self-Degrading

Admin October 05, 2026

The self-degrading mobile toilet for RVs typically refers to a biodegradable toilet for RVs, which uses biotechnology to decompose waste, offering both environmental friendliness and practicality.

Working Principle

The biodegradable toilet consists of a feces compartment, a urine tank, and an exhaust system. The front independent urine trough directly channels urine into a dedicated urine tank; the rear feces compartment uses a motor to stir, mixing waste with a biodegradable substrate composed of bark, rice husks, and wood shavings. Special bacterial powder activates in a moist environment, decomposing waste into soil-like organic matter. The compartment is equipped with a low-power fan (about 6W) that operates at high speed to remove odors during use and at low speed to maintain negative pressure when not in use, with only a faint fertilizer smell at the exhaust outlet.

Advantages of Use

  • Water-saving and environmentally friendly: No water flushing is required, avoiding water waste, and the decomposition products are organic matter, reducing environmental pollution.
  • Odor-free: The negative pressure exhaust design ensures fresh air inside the compartment, effectively controlling odor issues during daily use.
  • Long maintenance cycle: The cleaning cycle can be up to 60 days, significantly longer than traditional water-flush toilets (about 3-4 weeks for cleaning), and it is common for two people to completely replace it once every one and a half months.
  • Convenient to use: No frequent emptying of the toilet is required, reducing the labor intensity of users.

Installation and Adaptation

When modifying models like the V8P, physical space compatibility needs to be considered. The new toilet is larger in volume and height than traditional slide-out toilets, and direct replacement may cause the toilet lid to open obstructed (e.g., insufficient space reserved by the original factory when extending backward). Solutions include moving the entire toilet forward (but this will compress internal activity space) or installing a dedicated RV door hook on the side wall to hook the toilet lid upward to save space when in use. The urine tank layout requires sacrificing about half of the space in the bottom storage compartment for installation.

Operation

Keep the 12V power switch on at all times to ensure the exhaust fan runs at low speed 24 hours a day; the toilet lid must be completely closed and locked to prevent liquid from seeping into the storage compartment; when waste is wet or usage frequency is high, add dry bedding material and manually activate the heating function (about 100W, running for 5-6 hours) to assist in drying, which is recommended when using external power or while driving.

Maintenance and Cleaning

The exhaust fan can be kept on 24 hours a day, with the lid slightly open to assist in ventilation, and install check valves at all drain outlets to prevent odor backflow.
