Rural Prefabricated Assembled Houses
Rural prefabricated assembled houses are a rural housing construction model that uses factory-prefabricated components assembled on-site, featuring short construction periods, good earthquake resistance, and energy efficiency and environmental protection.

Construction Model and Period
Rural prefabricated assembled houses achieve modular assembly through industrial production. Core components (such as walls and floor slabs) are standardized and prefabricated in factories before being transported to the site for assembly. Taking Zhejiang Province as an example, the main structure of a fully assembled rural house can be erected in about 7 days, with a construction process similar to 'assembling Lego', significantly shortening the construction period.
Structural Types and Earthquake Resistance
This type of rural housing mainly adopts two structural types in Zhejiang: light steel structures and concrete shear wall structures. The nodes are fixed with high strength through mechanical connections, with an earthquake resistance intensity of up to 7 degrees, effectively withstanding earthquake disasters.
Functional Characteristics and Environmental Advantages
The walls are made of 25-centimeter-thick reinforced concrete with lightweight insulation panels, providing both thermal insulation and sound insulation. The waterproofing technology follows the mature scheme of Ningbo Metro shield segments, achieving multiple protections through ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) leak-proof seals and double-layer coatings. Additionally, the houses can be equipped with rooftop photovoltaic systems and whole-house smart systems to enhance energy efficiency and living comfort. The main structural materials, especially light steel structures, have a high recycling rate, reducing construction waste, dust, and noise pollution during the construction process. Compared to traditional brick-and-mortar structures, the usable floor area may be about 10% higher.
Application Promotion and Policy Support
These houses have been promoted in many parts of China: 29 light steel structure assembled rural houses have been built in Yuhuang Community, Fucheng District, Mianyang, Sichuan Province; Hebei Province has launched a pilot application system through the 'Yunongtong' APP; Changsha City has initiated a pilot project for the renovation of assembled rural dilapidated houses. As a national pilot province for steel structure assembled residential buildings, Zhejiang Province has introduced support policies such as financial subsidies and housing construction loans. Several light steel structure rural housing demonstration communities have been built in Lin'an District and other places, and the construction of provincial technical guidelines and the 'Rural Housing Construction in Zhejiang' full life-cycle management system is being advanced.
