Requirements for Setting Up Portable Toilets

Admin October 19, 2026

The requirements for setting up portable toilets cover four main aspects: design principles, internal facility configuration, accessibility facilities, and industry standards, as detailed below:

I. Design Principles
Portable toilets must meet the core requirements of mobility, cost-effectiveness, durability, and environmental friendliness. The overall structure should utilize lightweight yet sturdy materials (such as high-density polyethylene or fiberglass-reinforced plastic), with controlled height and width to accommodate transportation needs. The mobility mechanism must be complete and reasonable. Design considerations should also include environmental adaptability, such as enhanced insulation in cold regions and optimized ventilation and heat dissipation in hot regions, while emphasizing energy efficiency and resource recycling.

II. Internal Facility Configuration

  1. Core Sanitary Fixtures: Equipped with ceramic or stainless steel squat/seat toilets, washbasins (ceramic or stainless steel), push-button/sensor faucets, water storage tanks, mirrors, coat hooks, shelves, toilet paper holders, and trash bins. High-end models may include child safety seats or toilet seat covers.
  2. Environmental Control Systems:
    • Ventilation: Standard 20-50 watt high-power exhaust fans, with an air exchange rate of 10-15 times per hour. Some models feature dual exhaust designs.
    • Lighting: Utilize 5-15 watt LED energy-saving lights, with some models equipped with emergency lighting.
    • Temperature Control: Electric heaters or warm air blowers can be installed in cold regions, while ventilation skylights or small air conditioners can be added in hot regions.
  3. Water Supply and Drainage, and Power Systems:
    • Water Supply: Built-in 100-300 liter water tanks or external water sources.
    • Sewage Disposal: Utilize 200-500 liter sewage tanks or environmentally friendly foam sealing/microbial degradation technologies.
    • Power: Support 220V mains power, 12V/100Ah built-in batteries, or solar panel power supply.
  4. Structure and Accessories:
    • Door locks should be equipped with 'occupied/unoccupied' indicators (such as LED displays) and internal safety locks.
    • Wall panels are made of HDPE, fiberglass-reinforced plastic, or colored steel sheets, with non-slip floors or fiberglass grating.

III. Accessibility Facility Requirements
Portable toilets for special populations must meet the following criteria:

  1. Spatial Layout: The area should be no less than 4 square meters, with a wheelchair turning space of at least 1.5 meters in diameter inside.
  2. Specialized Facilities: Equipped with accessible toilets, low-position washbasins (height ≤ 0.8 meters), multifunctional tables, low-position coat hooks, and emergency call devices.
  3. Door Design: Utilize horizontally sliding or outward-opening flat doors to ensure unobstructed wheelchair passage.

IV. Industry Standards and Considerations
Production must comply with national standards such as 'GB/T 26963-2011 Mobile Toilets', with a focus on airtightness, odor control, and insulation performance. When purchasing, verify the brands of core components (such as water pumps and sanitary fixtures). The more comprehensive the configuration (such as air conditioners, water heaters, and sensor devices), the higher the cost and maintenance difficulty, so it is essential to weigh these factors based on actual needs.
