Installation of Mobile Toilets in Rental Houses
Whether installing a mobile toilet in a rental house is illegal depends on the specific circumstances, but unauthorized installation without the landlord's consent generally violates relevant laws and regulations.

Violation of Lease Contract Terms
According to Article 715 of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China, a lessee may, with the consent of the lessor, improve or add to the leased property; if the lessee improves or adds to the leased property without the consent of the lessor, the lessor may request the lessee to restore the property to its original condition or compensate for losses. Installing a mobile toilet in a rental house constitutes an addition to the leased property. If the lessee does not obtain the lessor's consent in advance, this violates the provisions of the Civil Code, and the lessor has the right to request the lessee to restore the house to its original condition or compensate for losses caused by the unauthorized installation of the mobile toilet.
Involvement in Housing Rental Management Regulations
Articles 8 and 24 of the Measures for the Administration of Commercial Housing Leasing (2011 Edition), although primarily targeting the minimum rental units and prohibited rental areas of residential housing, may also consider the installation of a mobile toilet as a violation if it involves altering or adding to the structure of the house without approval from relevant departments or in violation of relevant regulations. For example, if installing a mobile toilet requires changing the layout or plumbing of the house without obtaining permission from relevant departments, this may violate housing rental management regulations.
Violation of Residential Interior Decoration Management Regulations
Article 5 of the Measures for the Administration of Residential Interior Decoration (2011 Revised Edition) prohibits altering the main structure or load-bearing structure of a building without a design plan proposed by the original design unit or a design unit with the corresponding qualification level; and converting a room or balcony without waterproof requirements into a bathroom or kitchen. If installing a mobile toilet involves such changes, such as converting a room without waterproofing into a toilet area, this clearly violates the provisions of this article.
Suggestion: If a mobile toilet needs to be installed in a rental house, the lessee should first consult with the lessor and obtain consent, while ensuring that the installation complies with building safety standards and relevant laws and regulations; if it involves altering or adding to the structure of the house, it is advisable to consult professionals or relevant departments for approval and guidance.
