Quality Testing of Prefabricated Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The quality testing of prefabricated houses covers multiple aspects such as testing scope and samples, testing items, testing methods, testing equipment, and other related tests.

Testing Scope and Samples

Prefabricated floor slabs are important components of prefabricated houses, with a diverse range of sample types for testing. These include ordinary concrete, prestressed concrete, lightweight concrete, fiber-reinforced concrete, hollow slabs, solid slabs, composite types, prefabricated composite slabs, integrated insulation slabs, fire-resistant slabs, soundproof slabs, high-strength slabs, large-span prefabricated floor slabs, as well as prefabricated stair slabs and prefabricated balcony slabs.

Testing Items

The testing items comprehensively evaluate the physical, mechanical, and durability properties of prefabricated floor slabs. Physical properties include measurements of dimensional accuracy and geometric deviations, surface flatness testing, density and porosity testing, etc. Mechanical properties encompass compressive strength testing, flexural strength testing, tensile strength testing, elastic modulus determination, load testing, and load-bearing capacity verification, etc. Durability properties involve assessments of water permeability resistance, freeze-thaw cycle durability testing, fire resistance testing, sound insulation testing, thermal property evaluation, etc. Additionally, it includes testing for crack width and distribution, as well as the position and thickness of the protective layer of reinforcement bars.

Testing Methods

The testing methods are rich and varied. Non-destructive testing includes ultrasonic testing to evaluate internal defects and concrete uniformity, the rebound method for rapid determination of concrete surface hardness to infer strength, infrared thermography to detect surface temperature anomalies and identify internal defects, electromagnetic induction for testing the position and thickness of the protective layer of reinforcement bars, laser scanning for precise measurement of geometric dimensions and surface flatness, acoustic testing for evaluating sound insulation properties, heat flow meter method for determining thermal properties, visual inspection for preliminary assessment of surface defects and cracks, X-ray diffraction for analyzing material composition and structure, and vibration testing for evaluating dynamic response and stability. Destructive testing includes core drilling to obtain samples for laboratory strength testing and chemical analysis to detect harmful substance content in concrete. Comprehensive testing involves the ultrasonic-rebound combined method, which combines ultrasonic and rebound methods to improve the accuracy of concrete strength testing. Local testing employs the pull-out method to determine the compressive strength of concrete by pulling out anchors embedded in the concrete. Simulated actual working condition testing includes the load testing method to simulate actual loads and verify load-bearing capacity, the pressure permeation method to assess water permeability resistance, and the freeze-thaw cycle test method to test durability.

Testing Equipment

Commonly used equipment includes universal testing machines for compressive, flexural, and tensile strength testing; ultrasonic testing instruments for evaluating internal defects and uniformity; and rebound hammers for rapid measurement of concrete surface hardness.

Other Related Tests for Prefabricated Houses

As a form of prefabricated houses, temporary buildings also undergo quality testing methods including appearance inspection, dimensional measurement, connection part testing, foundation testing, waterproof performance testing, and fire resistance testing.
