Pujiang Container House Size Chart
The common sizes of container houses in Pujiang are mainly based on the dimensions of international standard shipping containers, divided into three categories: standard containers, high-cube containers, and non-standard customized containers. The specific parameters and applicable scenarios are as follows:

I. Standard 20-foot Container
The external dimensions are 6.058 meters in length × 2.438 meters in width × 2.591 meters in height, with an internal usable space of approximately 5.898 meters in length × 2.352 meters in width × 2.385 meters in height, and an internal area of about 13.87 square meters. Its width of 2.438 meters is the maximum width for road transportation, allowing it to be transported without special permits. Due to its compact space, this size of container is commonly used for single-room dormitories, small offices, or tool rooms, suitable for temporary or fixed uses with low space requirements.
II. Standard 40-foot Container
The external dimensions are 12.192 meters in length × 2.438 meters in width × 2.591 meters in height. There are two types of internal dimensions: the standard container has an internal space of approximately 12.032 meters in length × 2.352 meters in width × 2.385 meters in height, with an internal area of about 28.3 square meters; the high-cube container has its internal height increased to 2.698 meters. Due to its larger space, the 40-foot container is suitable for large offices, conference rooms, or multi-person dormitories, with the vertical space advantage of the high-cube container meeting the needs for installing suspended ceilings or internal partitions.
III. 40-foot High-Cube Container
The external height is 2.896 meters, with an internal height of 2.698 meters, and the length and width are the same as those of the standard 40-foot container. Its core feature is optimizing cargo transportation efficiency by increasing vertical space, making it particularly suitable for transporting lightweight but bulky goods (such as furniture, textiles, etc.). In housing applications, the high-cube container can provide more ample headroom, enhancing living comfort.
IV. Non-standard Customized Container
There are customized containers on the market that are widened and lengthened, such as those with dimensions of 6 meters in length × 3 meters in width × 2.8 meters in height, and an internal area of 18 square meters. For such containers, the following should be noted:
- Width Limitation: The standard container width of 2.438 meters is the maximum for road transportation. Customized widened containers (such as those 3 meters wide) require special transportation permits; otherwise, they may face traffic control.
- Height Selection: If suspended ceilings or internal partitions need to be installed, it is recommended to prioritize high-cube containers (with an internal height of 2.698 meters) to avoid cramped spaces.
- Structural Safety: Non-standard containers need to be professionally designed to ensure load-bearing capacity and stability, with particular attention paid to the connection strength of the widened parts.
Notes: All size data are based on International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards or industry-standard specifications. In actual use, comprehensive considerations should be given to transportation conditions, functional requirements, and budget.
