Procurement and Update Plan
In 2025, Pudong New Area plans to procure and update seven mobile public toilets located at Haitong Road and Meihua Road, Lujiazui Central Green Space Gate 2, and 2670 Pudong Avenue, among others. The new toilets will feature independently set male and female restrooms in proportion, along with separate third restrooms and barrier-free access. The total investment is 2.485 million yuan, with 1.2 million yuan allocated from the 2025 fiscal budget and the remaining amount to be included in the 2026 budget.
Human-Centered Design Optimization
The updated mobile public toilets emphasize integration with the surrounding environment, using soft hues like light beige and light brown as the base, with dark blue outlining the frames and accenting certain areas to enhance visual harmony. In high-traffic areas, barrier-free access and stainless steel handrails are added to strengthen age-friendly and child-friendly designs: ordinary restrooms are fully equipped with simple and bright decor; specialized restrooms have auxiliary handrails installed next to the toilets, and children's areas feature exclusive adaptive designs, with electronic screens on restroom doors displaying real-time usage status. Some toilets also include "Sanitation Stations," such as the one at the intersection of Century Avenue and Weifang Road, equipped with refrigerators, showers, microwaves, charging ports, and other facilities to provide rest areas for sanitation workers.
