Leakage in Conduits of Prefabricated Structure Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

The causes, handling, and preventive measures for leakage in conduits of prefabricated structure houses are as follows:

Causes of Leakage

  • Newly built houses: Firstly, there may be accumulated water inside the conduits, which enters through junction boxes or conduits during construction. Secondly, leakage from underground water pipes can cause water to flow into the conduits through gaps in the floor. For self-built rural houses, if the bending and connection of joints are not properly done during conduit embedding, or if the pipes are cracked during concrete pouring or by vibrating rods, it can also lead to water entering the conduits.
  • Houses that have been in use for a while: Firstly, water pipe leakage, where underground water pipes leak and water enters the conduits through cracks in the floor. Secondly, roof leakage, where the roof is in contact with the outdoors, and water seeps into the conduits through gaps on the house's exterior.

Handling Measures

  • Newly built houses: First, drain the water from the conduits to determine whether it is accumulated water or a water pipe leak. If a water pipe leak is suspected, conduct a pressure test on the water supply pipes to accurately locate and repair the leak. After repairing the water pipes, drain the water from the conduits again and perform necessary electrical circuit handling to ensure electrical safety.
  • Houses that have been in use for a while: For indoor water pipe leaks, first repair the leaking part and then handle the affected electrical circuits. If it is a roof leak, repair the roof waterproofing to completely solve the roof leakage problem and prevent water from entering the conduits again.

Preventive Measures

  • Newly built houses: When embedding conduits, ensure that the conduit joints are coated with glue and installed tightly, and that the connection between conduits and junction boxes is firmly bound with tape. After installation, conduct a pressure test on the water pipes to ensure they are leak-free. Regularly clear the conduits to remove accumulated water and prevent damage to the electrical wires.
  • Houses that have been in use for a while: After construction is completed, carefully inspect the conduits and water pipes to ensure there is no accumulated water in the conduits and no leakage in the water pipes. When installing conduits in the top-floor slab, perform strict sealing to prevent water from the roof from entering the conduits and ensure the normal operation of the house's conduit system.
