Renovation of Prefabricated Slab House Roof

Admin September 18, 2026

The renovation of the roof of a prefabricated slab house should be reasonably planned according to the wall structure and roof condition, with a focus on circuit layout and load-bearing safety.

Circuit Layout Plan

  1. Slotting in Brick-Concrete Walls
If the house walls are made of brick-concrete, slotting can be carried out on the walls during renovation to embed wire conduits and arrange concealed wiring. Slotting should follow regulations to avoid damaging the load-bearing structure of the wall. The slot depth should meet the installation requirements of the wire conduits to ensure that the wiring is hidden and safe.

  2. Utilization of Hollow Pipes in Prefabricated Slab Roofs
If there are pipes leading directly to the hollow space inside the prefabricated slab roof (such as ventilation or structural reserved holes), the sheathed wires can be directly threaded through these pipes to complete the concealed wiring layout. This method does not require additional slotting, reducing damage to the roof structure. However, it is necessary to confirm in advance the smoothness of the pipes and whether their dimensions match the wire specifications.

Load-Bearing Safety Assessment

  1. Service Life and Load-Bearing Capacity
If the prefabricated slab roof has been in use for 30 years, its remaining load-bearing capacity needs to be evaluated through professional testing. According to reference information, the load-bearing capacity of prefabricated slabs varies with their thickness, but the basic load-bearing range is several hundred kilograms, which can meet the needs of conventional renovation and floor tile laying.

  2. Selection of Renovation Materials
When renovating, priority should be given to lightweight materials (such as light steel keels and gypsum boards) to avoid using overly heavy stones or concrete. If floor tiles need to be laid, ensure that the base layer is flat and firmly bonded, and control the size and total weight of individual tiles to prevent local overloading.

Construction Precautions

  1. Structural Protection
Before construction, the positions of the joints between prefabricated slabs should be clearly identified to avoid slotting or drilling at the joints and prevent damage to the structural integrity. If decorative components need to be fixed, expansion bolts or chemical anchors should be used, and the anchoring depth should be controlled.

  2. Waterproofing Treatment
After roof renovation, a new waterproof layer should be applied. Flexible waterproof materials (such as polyurethane coatings or membranes) should be preferred, and it should be ensured that they are tightly connected to the original waterproof layer. If the roof has drainage slope requirements, the slope should be retained or adjusted during renovation to prevent water accumulation and leakage.

  3. Load Distribution
Avoid concentrating heavy objects (such as large furniture or equipment) on the roof. If fixed loads (such as solar panels) need to be installed, structural reinforcement design should be carried out in advance to ensure long-term safety in use.
