Connection Between Prefabricated Pipe Piles and Houses
Admin September 18, 2026
The connection between prefabricated pipe piles and houses requires special attention to the selection of connection methods and the control of safety distances. The specific technical points are as follows:

I. Connection Methods Between Pipe Piles
- Direct Connection: Directly splice the ends of two pipe piles and secure them with steel bar welding or bolts. Its advantages lie in simple construction and high connection strength, but it is only suitable for areas with stable geological conditions and no significant settlement or seismic risks. If there is a risk of uneven foundation settlement, direct connection may lead to uneven force distribution on the piles, causing fractures.
- Reinforcement Insertion Connection: Pre-embed reinforcements on the end faces of pipe piles and secure them through insertion followed by welding or bolting. This method can disperse the force on the pile body, reduce stress concentration, and is suitable for areas with significant foundation settlement or frequent earthquakes. For example, in soft soil foundations, reinforcement insertion connections can effectively resist relative displacement between piles.
- Steel Cage Connection: Sleeve the end of a pipe pile into a steel cage and then weld it, enhancing the overall integrity of the pile through the framework effect of the steel cage. This method is suitable for projects with loose soil or significant burial depths, significantly improving the pile's shear and bending resistance.
- Welding Method: Connect upper and lower pile sections through end plate welding, which is cost-effective but requires strict anti-corrosion treatment. Suitable for conventional geological conditions, it is essential to ensure that the weld quality meets standards to avoid connection failure due to corrosion.
- Mechanical Connection:
- Threaded Connection: Utilize high-strength bolts for rapid connection, widely used in standardized construction scenarios.
- Interlocking Connection (e.g., clamping type): Transmit tensile force through mechanical interlocking, offering fast construction speed and strong tensile resistance, suitable for deep excavations or soft soil foundations.
- Flange Connection: Secure flange plates with bolts, providing high connection strength but requiring regular inspection of the anti-corrosion layer to avoid rust affecting structural safety.
- Adhesive Bonding Method: Fill the gaps at the pile ends with high-strength epoxy resin, which has no heat-affected zone but requires a longer curing time, suitable for projects with high connection precision requirements.
II. Safety Distance Requirements Between Pipe Piles and Houses
- Intersection Surface Interval: Maintain a minimum interval of no less than 300mm at the intersection between pipe piles and house foundations to avoid direct impacts on the house structure from construction vibrations or pile deformation.
- Burial Depth Control: The burial depth of pipe piles should be greater than 1.5 meters. If the soil quality is poor (e.g., silty soil), the burial depth should be appropriately increased to ensure pile stability.
- Hazards and Prevention: Insufficient safety distance may lead to house structure cracking, increased settlement, as well as noise and vibrations. Solutions include strictly adhering to specifications for setting interval distances, strengthening quality control during construction (e.g., controlling pile driving speed), and conducting dynamic monitoring of the house's surrounding foundation (e.g., arranging settlement observation points).
In practical applications, it is necessary to comprehensively select connection methods and verify safety distances based on geological survey reports, house structure types, and load requirements to ensure the long-term stability of the project.
