Prefabricated Panel House Shakes When Jumping

Admin September 19, 2026

The shaking of a prefabricated panel house when jumping is usually related to factors such as low structural strength, quality issues with the floor slab, and construction problems, and timely inspection and reinforcement are required to ensure safety.

Inherent Deficiencies Due to Structural Characteristics

Prefabricated panel houses are assembled from individual prefabricated panels, lacking the solidity of monolithic pouring. They have low structural strength and are not earthquake-resistant. Most prefabricated panels adopt a hollow design, with the quantity and distribution of steel bars inside being less scientific and reasonable compared to cast-in-place houses, inherently lacking in solidity and toughness. This structural characteristic makes the house prone to shaking when subjected to external forces, such as when a person jumps.

Shaking Caused by Floor Slab Quality Issues

When slight movements, such as a light stomp, trigger noticeable shaking, it indicates quality issues with the floor slab. This may be due to defects in the prefabricated panel structure, such as rusting or breakage of the internal steel bars, or loose connections between the prefabricated panels, leading to a decrease in overall structural stability. It could also be that the thickness of the cast-in-place slab is insufficient and does not meet the design standards, significantly reducing structural rigidity and thus causing shaking.

Impact of Construction Problems on Floor Slab Strength

Quality issues during the construction process can also cause a prefabricated panel house to shake when jumping. For example, the use of poor-quality materials during construction, such as concrete with insufficient strength or low-quality steel bars, can affect the strength and stability of the floor slab. Improper construction techniques, such as non-standard installation of prefabricated panels or inadequate concrete pouring, can also create hidden dangers in the floor slab, causing it to shake under external forces.

Hazards of Long-Term Shaking and Recommendations

In the long run, this shaking may be accompanied by issues such as the expansion of floor slab cracks and steel bar rusting. In extreme cases, it may lead to collapse, threatening residential safety. Therefore, when a prefabricated panel house shakes when jumping, it is recommended to entrust a structural engineer to use methods such as load testing and concrete strength testing to determine the cause of the floor slab shaking and the extent of damage. Based on the inspection results, reinforcement methods such as increasing the cross-section of the slab, bonding carbon fiber cloth to the slab, or bonding steel plates to the slab can be selected to ensure the safe use of the house.
