How Much Do Prefabricated Panel Houses Cost?

Admin September 19, 2026

The prices of prefabricated panel houses vary significantly depending on the type and configuration, ranging from tens of yuan to tens of thousands of yuan per square meter.

I. Expandable Container House-style Prefabricated Buildings
These houses are centered around modular design. The cost of the house itself is less than $16,000 (approximately RMB 110,000), but additional expenses such as freight, customs duties, and other miscellaneous fees are required. The final landed price is close to $29,000 (approximately RMB 200,000). When expanded, the area is about 70 square meters, including a bedroom, kitchen, and independent bathroom, with complete facilities. The price advantage lies in rapid deployment and functional completeness, making it suitable for temporary living or emergency scenarios. However, long-term use requires consideration of maintenance costs.

II. Prices of Domestic Prefabricated Floor Panel Materials

  1. Ordinary Prefabricated Floor Panels: The unit price ranges from RMB 60 to 90 per square meter, but the actual total installation cost is significantly influenced by materials, craftsmanship, installation services, and regional suppliers. Taking a 100-square-meter self-built house as an example, the total cost, including transportation, hoisting, and labor expenses, is approximately RMB 20,000, equating to RMB 200 per square meter. These floor panels are suitable for low-rise residential or simple buildings, offering low cost but relatively limited functionality.
  2. Concrete Hollow Panels: E-commerce platforms show unit prices ranging from RMB 12 to 55 per square meter, with price differences primarily depending on specifications and thickness. These floor panels are lightweight and suitable for scenarios with low load-bearing requirements, but they have weaker sound insulation and thermal insulation performance.
  3. SP Prestressed Hollow Panels: The unit price can reach RMB 480 per square meter, belonging to high-end prefabricated components. They adopt prestressed technology, offering advantages such as high strength and good crack resistance, suitable for multi-story buildings or projects with high structural performance requirements. However, the cost is significantly higher than that of ordinary floor panels.

III. Core Factors Contributing to Price Differences

  1. Functional Configuration: Expandable container houses include complete living facilities, while prefabricated floor panels only provide basic structures, requiring additional construction.
  2. Materials and Craftsmanship: SP prestressed hollow panels are much more expensive than concrete hollow panels due to technological complexity and material costs.
  3. Additional Expenses: International transportation, customs duties, and installation services significantly increase the total cost, while domestic projects are mainly affected by regional labor and logistics.

Users should choose the appropriate type of prefabricated panel based on actual needs (such as usage scenario, budget, and construction period) and comprehensively consider supplier qualifications and construction specifications to ensure quality.
