Is the Prefabricated Panel House Fire-Resistant?

Admin September 18, 2026

The overall fire resistance of prefabricated panel houses has certain deficiencies, but the fire performance of the prefabricated panels themselves is relatively good. The overall fire situation of the house needs to be judged by considering multiple factors.

Fire Performance of the Prefabricated Panels

The fire performance of prefabricated panels is good and can meet Class A fire resistance requirements. Class A fire-resistant materials are non-combustible. In the event of a fire, these materials can effectively prevent the spread of flames, buying valuable time for personnel evacuation and firefighting operations. This means that from the perspective of the material properties of the prefabricated panels themselves, they have certain fire-resistant advantages and can resist fire to a certain extent.

Deficiencies in the Overall Fire Resistance of the House

Some prefabricated panel buildings have limited consideration for fire protection design during construction. The exterior walls and roofs of some houses make extensive use of flammable materials such as fiberglass shingles. Once these materials come into contact with an open flame, they can spread rapidly. For example, when a fire occurs and the open flame touches the fiberglass shingles, it will quickly ignite the surrounding combustible materials, causing the fire to expand in a short period and increasing the danger and destructiveness of the fire. Moreover, due to insufficient consideration of fire protection design, there may be issues such as a lack of necessary fire compartments and unreasonable layout of evacuation routes in the house, which will affect the safe evacuation of personnel in the event of a fire and the conduct of firefighting operations.

Legal Guarantees

The state stipulates that prefabricated panel houses must strictly comply with fire safety regulations. According to Article 54 of the Fire Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, if the fire rescue agency discovers fire hazards during fire supervision and inspection, it will notify the relevant units or individuals to take immediate measures to eliminate the hazards. The formulation and implementation of this regulation provide legal guarantees for the fire safety of prefabricated panel houses, prompting relevant units and individuals to pay attention to the fire protection issues of the houses, promptly rectify existing fire hazards, and improve the overall fire resistance of the houses.

To improve the fire safety of prefabricated panel houses, appropriate building materials should be reasonably selected during the construction process to avoid the use of flammable materials; fire protection design should be strengthened, and complete fire compartments and evacuation routes should be set up; at the same time, relevant units and individuals should strictly comply with fire safety regulations and regularly conduct fire safety inspections and maintenance.
