Construction of Prefabricated Panel Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated panel houses are structures built primarily using prefabricated panels, featuring unique and systematic construction.

Types and Production of Prefabricated Panels

Prefabricated panels are cement components produced in factories and come in two types: solid and hollow. The hollow structure achieves lightweighting by reducing the non-load-bearing concrete, lowering material costs and transportation difficulties. During production, a hollow mold is first made using wooden planks. After placing steel bars in the hollow part of the mold, cement is poured to fill the hollow section. Once the cement dries, the wooden planks are knocked away, leaving the prefabricated panel. This industrial production method ensures the standardization and quality stability of the components.

Overall House Construction

The construction system of prefabricated panel houses centers around the prefabricated panels, combined with other prefabricated components to form a complete structure. In panel-based prefabricated buildings, prefabricated wall panels and floor slabs are the core components, assembled with other prefabricated beams and columns through reliable connection methods (such as welding, bolt fixing, or reserved steel bar insertion) to form an overall load-bearing system. This assembly method reduces on-site wet work, shortens the construction period, and improves construction accuracy and building quality.

Structural Characteristics and Advantages

The structural characteristics of prefabricated panel houses are reflected in their modularity and standardization. As the main load-bearing or enclosure components, the dimensions, shapes, and performance of the prefabricated panels are rigorously designed, facilitating quick installation and replacement. Hollow prefabricated panels optimize their internal structure to reduce self-weight while ensuring strength, lowering the requirements for the foundation and making them suitable for multi-story residential buildings or light commercial structures. Additionally, the factory production of prefabricated components reduces on-site construction noise and dust pollution, aligning with green building principles.

Application Scenarios and Expansion

Prefabricated panel houses are not only suitable for residential construction but also widely applicable to public buildings such as schools and hospitals. In prefabricated concrete structures, prefabricated panels are often combined with prefabricated beams and columns to form a frame-shear wall structure; in steel structures, prefabricated panels serve as the floor or roof system, working in tandem with steel beams. This flexibility allows prefabricated panel houses to adapt to different functional requirements and architectural styles, making them an important direction in modern building industrialization.
