Prefabricated Panel Factory Building Roof

Admin September 18, 2026

The common type of prefabricated panel factory building roof is the prefabricated sandwich panel, which offers the advantage of standardized installation. However, it has significant limitations in specific scenarios, and prices vary depending on the brand, region, and specifications.

I. Characteristics of Prefabricated Sandwich Panels Prefabricated sandwich panels are standardized finished panels formed in one go at the factory. They consist of upper and lower layers of color-coated steel sheets and an intermediate core material (such as polystyrene or rock wool) formed into a single unit. After being transported to the construction site, they are directly hoisted and laid, and fixed through joint seams to complete the installation. This process simplifies on-site construction procedures, shortens the construction period, and the panels themselves have good thermal insulation and heat insulation properties, making them suitable for conventional factory building construction with high requirements for construction efficiency.

II. Inapplicable Scenarios and Reasons

  1. Photovoltaic Installation Requirements: If the roof needs to be fully covered with photovoltaic panels and requires maintenance-free operation for more than 20 years, the spliced structure of prefabricated sandwich panels can become a隐患 (potential hazard). Their horizontal and vertical joint seams are concealed after being covered by photovoltaic panels. Once water leakage occurs, a large area of photovoltaic modules needs to be removed to locate the leak point, resulting in extremely high maintenance costs, including labor costs and downtime losses.
  2. Large-Span Factory Buildings: Due to the length limitation of truck transportation (generally up to 6-8 meters), multiple overlapping seams need to be reserved when laying large-span factory buildings. An increase in joints significantly raises the risk of water leakage, especially in areas with frequent wind and rain or large temperature differences, where the joint seams are prone to seal failure due to thermal expansion and contraction.
  3. Complex Working Conditions: In scenarios such as the renovation of old factory buildings, irregular roofs, or multiple high and low spans, standard-sized prefabricated sandwich panels need to be cut to fit, resulting in a large number of edge and corner seams. These seams are difficult to seal, and if not handled properly, they can easily become water leakage points, affecting the service life of the factory building.
  4. Transportation Limitations: When the factory's roads are narrow, preventing large trucks and cranes from entering, prefabricated sandwich panels, due to their large size and heavy weight, cannot be transported or manually handled using small transportation tools, potentially stalling the project.

III. Price Differences The price of prefabricated panel roofs is significantly affected by the brand, region, and specifications. For example, the price of Henan Kaifeng Hengdao steel-framed lightweight expanded slab (fire-resistant roof) is 180 yuan per square meter; the price of Shandong Weihai factory building laminated slab (cast-in-place sloped roof) is 28 yuan per square meter; the price of Beijing Huazhu Weiye closed decking (customizable thickness) is 52 yuan per square meter. When choosing, it is necessary to comprehensively consider performance requirements and budget.
