Prefabricated Housing Customs Export Data

Admin September 18, 2026

China's customs export data for prefabricated housing indicates that the industry is characterized by overall scale expansion, significant growth rates, and market diversification, with data from certain ports and enterprises further confirming the export boom.

I. Overall Export Scale and Growth Rate
China's export value of prefabricated buildings increased from $1.7 billion in 2020 to $4.3 billion in 2025, a 1.5-fold increase, demonstrating the industry's strong expansion over the five-year period. This growth reflects the rising global demand for modular and rapidly deployable construction solutions, particularly driven by post-pandemic infrastructure reconstruction and the increased need for temporary housing.

II. Export Performance of Key Ports

  1. Shenzhen Port: In the first four months of 2023, enterprises across the country exported movable housing worth 1.68 billion yuan through Shenzhen Port, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%, with products shipped to over 150 countries and regions. As an important logistics hub in southern China, Shenzhen's export data reflects the extensive global market coverage of China's prefabricated housing.
  2. Huangpu Customs (Shatian Customs): In the first seven months of 2023, it supervised the export of 23 batches of modular housing, with a value of 548 million yuan, a 7.3-fold increase year-on-year. This data indicates that the export growth rate of modular housing (such as container-style buildings) far exceeds the industry average, likely benefiting from its standardized and highly mobile characteristics.
  3. Jiangmen Customs: In the first half of 2023, it supervised the export of modular building products worth 100 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.3%. Jiangmen, as one of the industrial clusters for prefabricated housing in Guangdong, reflects the maturity of the regional industrial chain through its export growth.

III. Enterprise Delivery and Market Layout

  1. Guangdong CIMC Construction Manufacturing Co., Ltd.: In the first half of 2023, its modular building delivery value reached 59.772 million yuan, with export projects covering Cameroon, Indonesia, Australia, the UK, and other places, indicating the company's global layout and its products' adaptability to different climates and building standards.
  2. Jiangmen Hailong Technology Co., Ltd.: Its products are exported to the Middle East, Malaysia, and other regions. Although the specific delivery value is not disclosed, the market direction indicates that Southeast Asia and the Middle East are key expansion areas, possibly related to local infrastructure investment and housing shortages.

IV. Main Export Destinations
The United States, Southeast Asia, Australia, and Western Europe are the main markets for China's prefabricated housing, with significant growth in ASEAN countries (such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia). This trend is closely related to the deepening infrastructure cooperation between China and ASEAN under the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the accelerated urbanization process in Southeast Asia.
