Prefabricated Houses Sold Abroad

Admin September 18, 2026

Chinese prefabricated houses have been exported to more than 150 countries worldwide, with their recognition in overseas markets continuously increasing. Their core advantages, export data, price differences, and application scenarios all demonstrate significant competitiveness.

Core Advantages: Rapid Delivery, Cost Control, and Stable Quality

Prefabricated houses adopt a standardized factory production model, significantly shortening on-site construction periods. For example, the Southampton retirement apartment project in the UK used 63 modular components to complete hoisting within two weeks, with costs only 40% of those of local construction teams and an eight-month reduction in the construction period. The hotel project in Papua New Guinea utilized 84 modules to quickly build facilities including 52 guest rooms, a gym, and a restaurant, even attracting a visit from the Prime Minister. This model avoids issues affecting traditional construction, such as weather and labor, through centralized production and on-site assembly, ensuring stable quality.

Export Data: Continuous Growth in Scale and Active Regional Markets

China's export volume of prefabricated houses has surged: exports were $1.472 billion in 2015, increasing to $4.339 billion in 2025, with a 45% year-on-year increase in the first quarter of 2026. Specific port data further confirms the trend: the Shenzhen port's export volume reached 1.68 billion yuan in the first four months; Huangpu Customs supervised the export of modular houses worth 548 million yuan in the first seven months of this year, a 7.3-fold increase year-on-year. At the corporate level, Guangdong CIMC Modular Building Systems Co., Ltd. achieved a delivery volume of 59.772 million yuan in the first half of the year, with products covering more than 20 countries, including the UK and Australia, highlighting international trust in 'Made in China.'

Price Differences: Significant Disparity Between Domestic Base Models and Overseas Final Prices

The factory price of a basic domestic prefabricated house is about 200,000 yuan, but after high-end finishing overseas, the selling price can exceed one million US dollars. For example, prefabricated houses produced in Huanggang, Hubei, reach this price level in the Spanish and Italian markets, indicating significant profit margins. This difference stems from overseas value-added services (such as customized design, high-end decoration, logistics, and installation) and higher quality requirements in target markets.

Application Scenarios and Main Markets: Diverse Demands Driving Global Layout

Prefabricated houses have a wide range of application scenarios, including high-end office buildings, hotels, schools, and data centers. The main markets are concentrated in the UK, Australia, and ASEAN countries (such as Indonesia and Vietnam), where there is strong demand for rapid construction, environmental protection, energy efficiency, and cost optimization. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning once posted a video on overseas social media showcasing the 'unboxing' of a Chinese prefabricated apartment, calling it a 'home made in China,' further enhancing the international image.
