Prefabricated House with Thermal Insulation Board

Admin September 19, 2026

A prefabricated house with a thermal insulation board is a building form that combines prefabricated components with thermal insulation technology. It features rapid construction, diverse structures, and excellent thermal insulation performance, making it widely used in residential, office, and temporary building sectors.

1. Types of Prefabricated Components and Structural Features

The core components of prefabricated houses are prefabricated panels, which come in two types: solid and hollow. Solid prefabricated panels are made by pouring concrete in a factory as a whole, providing a stable structure suitable for areas with high load-bearing requirements. Hollow prefabricated panels achieve lightweighting by reducing the concrete in non-load-bearing parts, lowering material costs while maintaining strength, and are commonly used for non-load-bearing walls or partitions. Additionally, foreign modular rapid construction technologies use specially designed prefabricated panels for quick assembly through standardized designs. For example, after fixing the foundation with bricks, square wooden beams, floors, walls, lofts, and roofs are installed sequentially, with the entire process shortened to just a few days and requiring no complex construction equipment.

2. Thermal Insulation Technologies and Material Selection

Thermal insulation performance is a key indicator for prefabricated houses. Common thermal insulation materials include:

  1. Sandwich panels: Comprising two layers of metal sheets (such as color-coated steel) sandwiching thermal insulation core materials like polyurethane or rock wool, these panels offer both structural strength and thermal insulation, commonly used in industrial plants or temporary buildings.
  2. Rock wool panels: Made from basalt, these panels are heat-resistant and have excellent fireproof performance, suitable for office or residential scenarios with high safety requirements.
  3. Metal composite panels: For example, stainless steel combined with polystyrene, these panels are corrosion-resistant on the surface and effectively block heat transfer with their internal thermal insulation layer, making them suitable for humid or coastal areas.
  4. Color-coated steel/color panels: These panels enhance weather resistance by applying a colored coating on the steel surface, paired with a thermal insulation layer of polystyrene or glass wool, offering low cost and convenient construction.

3. Application Scenarios and Advantages

Prefabricated houses with thermal insulation boards are widely applied in the following scenarios due to their high construction efficiency and strong adaptability:

  • Residential sector: Modular designs enable rapid construction of single-family homes or villas, particularly suitable for post-disaster reconstruction or remote areas.
  • Commercial use: Steel structures paired with rock wool panels for office buildings meet fire safety regulations and provide significant thermal insulation effects.
  • Temporary buildings: Color-coated steel sandwich panel houses are commonly used for construction site dormitories and exhibition venues, allowing for disassembly and reuse to reduce resource waste.

Their core advantages lie in standardized production (reducing on-site construction errors), rapid assembly (shortening construction periods by over 50%), and energy efficiency and environmental protection (thermal insulation materials lower air conditioning energy consumption, aligning with green building trends). With technological advancements, some prefabricated houses also integrate photovoltaic panels and intelligent temperature control systems to further enhance energy utilization efficiency.
