Reinforcement of Brick-Concrete Prefabricated Panel Houses
Admin September 19, 2026
The reinforcement of brick-concrete prefabricated panel houses should be carried out based on the actual safety appraisal results of the house, employing targeted methods for different parts as follows:

1. Foundation Reinforcement
- Enlarging Foundation Size or Deepening: Increase the foundation base area (such as with concrete jackets or reinforced concrete jackets) or deepen the foundation to enhance the bearing capacity of the foundation, suitable for cases where the foundation bearing capacity is insufficient or the foundation base area does not meet design requirements.
- Grouting and Pile Foundation Techniques: Foundation strengthening grouting can fill cracks and repair damage caused by uneven settlement or frost heave; anchor static pile methods or root pile methods (pressure-grouted piles) are suitable for soft soil foundation reinforcement, transmitting loads through the piles to enhance stability.
- Material Strengthening: Add reinforcing agents or sealing materials to improve the foundation's seismic performance and reduce structural damage caused by earthquake forces.
2. Wall Reinforcement
- Surface Strengthening Methods: Mortar coating is suitable for minor increases in load-bearing capacity, enhancing the overall integrity of the wall by applying mortar; reinforced mesh mortar coating or reinforced concrete panel wall methods can significantly increase load-bearing capacity, with the latter forming a composite wall by pouring concrete panels, offering superior seismic performance.
- Structural Strengthening: Inject reinforced concrete into the wall or install steel beams, columns, plates, etc., to enhance the overall strength and stiffness of the house, especially suitable for key areas such as staircases and roofs.
3. Prefabricated Panel Reinforcement
- Section Enlargement Method: Add a reinforced concrete adhesive layer not less than 40 mm thick on the surface or bottom of the floor slab to increase load-bearing capacity.
- Fiber and Steel Plate Bonding: Carbon fiber cloth is bonded along the tensile direction of the floor slab with anchor points set; steel plate bonding can enhance the load-bearing capacity of flexural members, but attention must be paid to the bonding stability between the steel plate and concrete to avoid peeling.
- Local Reinforcement Techniques: For local insufficient load-bearing capacity, mature techniques such as section steel reinforcement (e.g., setting section steel at the four corners of the prefabricated panel to form octagonal supports) and plywood reinforcement can be used.
4. Other Reinforcement Measures
- External Frames and Seismic Isolation Devices: Install metal frames on exterior walls and fill with reinforcing agents or sealing materials to enhance overall stability; install spring or rubber seismic isolators to reduce the transmission of earthquake forces.
- Key Part Strengthening: Reinforce walls, staircases, beams, and columns with steel bars, or employ methods such as normal section reinforcement, steel plate bonding, and carbon fiber sheet reinforcement to enhance the load-bearing capacity and seismic performance of concrete beams and floor slabs.
Special Note: Not all prefabricated panel buildings are suitable for perimeter reinforcement. Buildings that have suffered from fires or foundation settlement leading to structural cracking may require a reassessment of their reinforcement value. A professional safety appraisal must be conducted before reinforcement to ensure the scientific and rationality of the plan.
