Prefabricated House: Single-Story or Double-Story

Admin September 18, 2026

Whether a prefabricated house adopts a single-story or double-story design primarily depends on specific design requirements, usage scenarios, and budget considerations.

Single-Story Prefabricated Houses:
The structure is relatively simple, with faster construction speeds and lower costs. This type of prefabricated house is suitable for projects with limited budgets. In areas with mild climates and low load requirements, single-story prefabricated houses can meet basic waterproofing and insulation needs. Their application scenarios are wide-ranging, suitable for low-rise buildings such as residences and warehouses. The design and construction of single-story prefabricated houses are relatively easy, without the need for complex structural designs and construction techniques, enabling rapid completion of construction to meet urgent or temporary needs.

Double-Story Prefabricated Houses:
The structure is more stable, with increased overall rigidity and load-bearing capacity through the superposition of two layers of panels. This design makes double-story prefabricated houses suitable for high-rise buildings or scenarios with high load requirements. In terms of thermal insulation performance, double-story prefabricated houses have significant advantages, with insulation materials typically filled in between to effectively reduce energy consumption and improve building energy efficiency. At the same time, double-story prefabricated houses also have better waterproofing effects, with staggered panel laying and waterproof layer treatment effectively preventing rainwater penetration and protecting the interior of the building from damage. Double-story prefabricated houses are suitable for high-rise buildings such as commercial complexes and office buildings, as well as in areas with cold climates and heavy rainfall, and buildings with special functional requirements (such as sound insulation and explosion resistance), where double-story prefabricated houses can provide better performance and protection.

In addition, the choice of the number of prefabricated panels also needs to be determined based on specific uses and requirements. Generally, single-layer prefabricated panels are used for one layer, and double-layer prefabricated panels are used for two layers. There is a certain distance between the upper and lower layers of double-layer prefabricated panels, which not only enhances strength and load-bearing capacity but also provides good sound insulation and thermal insulation effects, further improving the living comfort and functionality of the building.
