Prefabricated House Ring Beam
The prefabricated house ring beam is a reinforced concrete or reinforced brick structural component set within the walls to prevent adverse effects on the house caused by uneven foundation settlement or significant vibration loads. It is used to enhance the overall rigidity of the house and is typically constructed using cast-in-place or prefabricated assembly with cast-in-place joints.

Functions and Types of Ring Beams
The core function of a ring beam is to improve the overall integrity of the house structure. By setting closed reinforced concrete or reinforced brick components horizontally along the walls, it restricts wall deformation and reduces the risk of wall cracking caused by differences in foundation settlement or external vibrations (such as earthquakes or mechanical vibrations). Reinforced concrete ring beams, with their high strength and durability, have become the mainstream choice in prefabricated houses, while reinforced brick ring beams are suitable for low-rise buildings with smaller loads.
Construction Methods for Prefabricated House Ring Beams
Cast-in-Place Construction:
The traditional method for constructing reinforced concrete ring beams is cast-in-place, where steel reinforcement is first reserved in the walls, and then formwork is erected before pouring concrete. This method ensures a tight bond between the ring beam and the walls, providing the best overall integrity, but it has a longer construction period as it requires waiting for the concrete to set.Prefabricated Assembly with Cast-in-Place Joints:
To improve construction efficiency, prefabricated houses can adopt a method that combines prefabricated ring beam sections with cast-in-place joints. The specific process involves prefabricating standardized ring beam components in a factory, transporting them to the site, connecting them to the walls using reserved steel reinforcement, and finally pouring concrete at the joints to form an integral structure. This method balances the efficiency of industrial production with structural safety but requires strict control over the precision of prefabricated components and the quality of joint construction.
Setting Requirements for Ring Beams
Continuity and Closure:
Ring beams should be continuously set along the same horizontal plane of the walls and should form a closed loop as much as possible. If interrupted by door or window openings, additional ring beams should be added above the openings in the masonry. The lap length between the additional ring beam and the original ring beam should meet regulatory requirements (usually not less than 1 meter) to ensure the continuity of the load transfer path.Structural Reinforcement:
Ring beams should be reinforced according to structural requirements, with the diameter and spacing of steel reinforcement complying with design specifications. For example, the longitudinal reinforcement in reinforced concrete ring beams should not be less than 4 bars, with a diameter not less than 10 millimeters; the spacing of stirrups should not be greater than 250 millimeters to enhance the shear resistance of the ring beam.
Handling Special Cases
When the house has multiple stories or the foundation conditions are complex, ring beams need to work in conjunction with structural columns to form a "weak beam, strong column" seismic system. In this case, the connection nodes between the ring beams and structural columns need to be reinforced, such as by using tie bars or embedded parts, to ensure that the structure does not undergo brittle failure under seismic action.
