Prefabricated Floor of House

Admin September 17, 2026

The prefabricated floor of a house is a crucial part of buildings constructed primarily with prefabricated panels, typically associated with prefabricated panel houses. The following provides a detailed introduction to the composition, applications, existing issues, and policy handling of prefabricated floors:

Composition of Prefabricated Floors: The prefabricated panels in prefabricated floors are cement components manufactured in factories. During production, a wooden mold is first nailed together, then steel reinforcement bars are arranged inside the mold, and finally, cement is poured to form the panel. Prefabricated panels come in two types: solid and hollow. The hollow structure is designed to achieve lightweighting by reducing the concrete in non-load-bearing parts, ensuring structural strength while reducing overall weight for easier transportation and installation.

Applications of Prefabricated Floors: Prefabricated panel buildings use prefabricated concrete floor panels (i.e., prefabricated panels) as the main components of the floor. This construction method was commonly seen in urban residential buildings from the 1970s to the 1990s. After the floor panels, some walls, or other components are prefabricated in the factory, they are transported to the construction site for assembly. The walls are mostly brick or prefabricated concrete wall panels, with brick-and-concrete structures being the predominant form. This construction method offered advantages such as fast construction speed and high efficiency at the time, meeting the demand for a large number of housing units.

Existing Issues: Existing prefabricated panel houses generally have some defects. Weak Earthquake Resistance: Due to the relatively simple connection method between prefabricated panels, they are prone to cracking or even collapsing under external forces such as earthquakes. Poor Sound Insulation and Thermal Insulation: The material and structural characteristics of prefabricated panels result in poor performance in sound insulation and thermal insulation, affecting living comfort. Limited Service Life: Generally, the service life of prefabricated panel houses is about 30-50 years. Over time, the structural performance of the house gradually declines.

Policy Handling: Since 2022, China has implemented a policy of renovating old buildings. For prefabricated panel houses, the focus is on repair and renovation, improving the safety and living quality of the houses by reinforcing the structure and enhancing sound insulation and thermal insulation conditions. Only buildings that meet the criteria for dangerous houses will be demolished to ensure the safety of residents' lives and property.
