Prefabricated Concrete Floor Slab for House Plan

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated floor slab buildings use prefabricated concrete floor slabs as the main components of the floor. Prefabricated slabs for rural self-built houses have specific size specifications.

Characteristics of Prefabricated Floor Slab Buildings

Prefabricated floor slab buildings were commonly seen in urban residential buildings from the 1970s to the 1990s. Their floor plans are restricted by the size of the prefabricated slabs, resulting in relatively fixed unit designs. The room spans are relatively small, generally ranging from 3 to 4 meters, which makes the sense of openness in the indoor space relatively insufficient. The north-south permeability is poor, which is not conducive to indoor air circulation and natural lighting, thus affecting living comfort to a certain extent. The floor height is usually relatively low, between 2.6 and 2.8 meters, and the spatial layout is relatively compact, which may give a feeling of oppression.

Sizes of Prefabricated Slabs for Rural Self-Built Houses

  • Length: In rural self-built houses, the lengths of prefabricated slabs range from 3 meters to 4.2 meters, with an increment of 30 centimeters for each size. However, when the length exceeds 4.2 meters, it is restricted by transportation conditions. This is mainly because overly long prefabricated slabs are prone to damage during transportation and have higher requirements for transportation vehicles and road conditions.
  • Width: There are two options for the width of prefabricated slabs: 50 centimeters and 60 centimeters. Different widths can be combined according to the actual layout and design requirements of the room to meet diverse construction needs.
  • Thickness: For ordinary rooms, a prefabricated slab with a thickness of 12 centimeters is generally sufficient to meet daily load-bearing requirements. However, for areas on the second floor or where heavy objects need to be placed, to ensure the safety and stability of the structure, the thickness of the prefabricated slab should be at least 15 centimeters. This can better withstand the pressure of heavy objects and avoid structural damage and other safety issues.
