Seismic Demonstration of Prefabricated Cement Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

Prefabricated cement houses exhibit excellent seismic performance, ensuring their earthquake resistance through various aspects such as structural design, flexible connections, and energy absorption design.

Structural Design: Prefabricated cement houses adopt a dual-safety system of "full-frame shear walls + flexible connections". Their skeletal structure is poured with C35 concrete and incorporates φ12 - 18 threaded steel bars, with each column containing up to 8 steel bars, forming a load-bearing system similar to a steel cage. This structure provides a lateral stiffness 6.8 times that of brick-and-mortar structures, enabling it to better resist horizontal forces during earthquakes, reduce lateral displacement of the house, and lower the risk of collapse.

Flexible Connection Technology: Modules are welded using E55-type welding rods with a tensile strength of up to 550MPa, allowing each point to withstand 20 tons of tensile force. In simulated earthquake tests in Yunnan, when the house experienced a rare 9-degree earthquake (exceeding the intensity of the Wenchuan earthquake), the maximum displacement between modules was only 15cm, and the overall structure remained intact. This indicates that flexible connection technology can effectively buffer the energy generated by earthquakes, preventing modules from separating due to violent shaking and ensuring the integrity of the house structure.

Energy Absorption Design: The steel bar mesh acts like a building spring, absorbing energy through elastic deformation during earthquakes, withstanding up to 15cm of deformation without breaking. Compared to the 2cm safety threshold of brick-and-mortar structures, this represents a 7.5-fold improvement. This means that prefabricated cement houses can better dissipate earthquake energy during earthquakes, reducing damage to the main structure of the house and enhancing its seismic safety.

Comparative Experiments and Actual Cases: Under the same intensity, when brick-and-mortar walls crack, the strain in the walls of cement houses is only 1/8 of that, truly achieving "no collapse in major earthquakes and repairability in minor ones". Next to the earthquake ruins in Ludian, Yunnan, a row of prefabricated cement houses remained stable after multiple aftershocks, while the surrounding brick-and-mortar houses were riddled with cracks. These actual data and cases fully demonstrate the outstanding seismic performance of prefabricated cement houses.
