Portable Toilet

Admin September 20, 2026

A portable toilet is a facility that can be moved as a whole and provides toilet services to the public. It is suitable for various locations, has multiple classification methods, numerous advantages, and follows specific design principles.

Portable toilets, also known as Portable toilet, can be moved in their entirety and are placed at locations with fixed or temporary needs to solve toilet problems for the public and customers. They are suitable for stations, docks, tourist attractions, villa areas, newly built residential communities, large construction sites, squares, densely populated public places, and bustling commercial streets.

In terms of composition, they are generally made up of fecal sewage storage tanks (or fecal sewage treatment devices), floor slabs, sanitary ware, walls, washing equipment, water tanks, roofs, and mobile devices. In their development history, they were initially made of materials such as wood, with simple structures and functions and were prone to absorbing odors. Later, materials like fiberglass and polyethylene were gradually adopted.

There are multiple classification methods for portable toilets. According to the structural form, they can be divided into single-structure portable toilets and composite-structure portable toilets. According to the moving method, there are hoisting and handling portable toilets, and powered and towed portable toilets. According to the sewage treatment method, they are classified into water-flushing and non-water-flushing suction portable toilets, circulating water-flushing portable toilets, and dry-packing portable toilets.

They have significant advantages. They can be conveniently transported to any place where toilets need to be installed and can be used repeatedly. They possess characteristics such as mobility, combinability, and ease of transportation. Their origin lies in the temporary and阶段性 (phased, here translated as 'periodic' for better flow in English) needs for toilets in specific situations. Due to the shortage and improper layout of public toilets in cities, the government installs portable public toilets in areas where it is relatively difficult to build fixed public toilets to make up for the deficiencies in the quantity and layout of public toilets. For example, in 2023, portable toilets were gradually installed and put into use in the scenic area along the Yellow River in Lanzhou.

The design of portable toilets follows certain principles. They should be easy to move, economical, and durable; environmentally friendly and beneficial to the environment; improve efficiency and promote humanitarianism. The overall structure should be lightweight, using lightweight and durable materials as much as possible. The structure should be sturdy. When designing, the height and width of the toilet should also be controlled, and the mobile device should be fully considered for completeness and rationality.
