Portable Toilet

Admin September 20, 2026

Portable toilets generally refer to movable toilet facilities that can be set up at different locations according to fixed or temporary needs, allowing for overall mobility.

Portable toilets are suitable for a wide range of scenarios, including stations, docks, tourist attractions, villa areas, newly built residential communities, large construction sites, squares, densely populated public places, and bustling commercial streets. Their core function is to meet the toilet needs of temporary or fixed locations, especially in areas where traditional toilets are difficult to cover or have high construction costs. For example, tourist attractions can quickly supplement sanitary facilities with portable toilets during peak holiday seasons; construction sites can flexibly adjust toilet locations according to construction progress.

In terms of structural composition, portable toilets typically include modules such as fecal sewage storage tanks (or disposal devices), floor slabs, sanitary ware, walls, washing equipment, water tanks, roofs, and mobile devices. Regarding materials, wood was predominantly used in the early days, but it had issues such as absorbing odors easily and poor durability. Modern portable toilets mostly use lightweight and high-strength materials like fiberglass and polyethylene, which offer corrosion resistance, easy cleaning, and environmental friendliness. For instance, fiberglass can effectively isolate odors, while polyethylene reduces leakage risks through integrated molding processes.

Portable toilets can be classified in various ways:

  • By structural form: They are divided into single-unit structures (independent units suitable for small-scale scenarios) and composite structures (multi-unit combinations that can be expanded into large-scale sanitary facilities).
  • By mobility method: They include lifting and handling types (requiring forklifts or manual handling) and powered and towed types (equipped with wheels or towing devices that can be towed by vehicles).
  • By sewage treatment method: They are categorized into flush toilets (requiring a water connection and offering high cleanliness), non-flush suction types (relying on vacuum pumps to suction feces), circulating flush types (reusing water resources through filtration systems), and dry packing types (using degradable bags to collect feces without the need for a water source).

Their core advantages lie in mobility, combinability, and convenient transportation. For example, the steel structure toilets from Dezhou Hongtu Metal Products Co., Ltd. support customized designs. A scenic spot in Hubei once customized a portable toilet with a gable roof, featuring metal carved walls, an open washing area, and home-like decor. This not only met functional requirements but also blended with the landscape. Such flexibility enables repeated use in different scenarios, significantly reducing long-term construction costs.
