Portable Toilet / Mobile Toilet

Admin September 24, 2026

A portable toilet is a portable sanitation device specifically designed for individuals with mobility issues, suitable for indoor settings such as bedrooms and living rooms, with the core function of addressing difficulties in using the toilet.

1. Target Users and Core Functions

Portable toilets primarily serve elderly individuals, pregnant women, and people with disabilities who have mobility challenges. The design初衷 (original intention) is to address the inconvenience of using traditional toilets, such as nighttime toilet use, limited mobility during post-surgical recovery, or when the bathroom is far away. Through portable design, users can use the toilet nearby in spaces like bedrooms and living rooms, reducing the risk of movement.

2. Structural Design and Stability

Product stability is a key design indicator. Common structures include bucket-type and wide-leg-type:

  • Bucket-type structure: Utilizes a thickened plastic bucket body with a wide bottom to lower the center of gravity. Some products are equipped with anti-slip bases or suction cups to enhance ground friction.
  • Wide-leg-type structure: Supported by four thickened legs, with crossbars that can be added between the legs to improve resistance to tipping, suitable for users with larger body weights or weak balance.
Some high-end models integrate handrails and backrests, providing additional support points to further reduce the risk of falls.

3. Materials and Hygiene Performance

The main body material is usually ABS engineering resin, which has high strength and impact resistance, and a smooth surface that is easy to clean. The inner wall is added with antibacterial additives to inhibit bacterial growth and reduce odor production. Some products adopt a double-layer sealing design: a sealing ring is placed between the inner and outer buckets to prevent leakage of excreta; the toilet lid is equipped with a silicone sealing strip to isolate odor diffusion when closed.

4. Convenience Optimization

  • Toilet bucket design: A deep toilet bucket reduces the risk of splashing, and some models are equipped with handles for easy emptying and cleaning.
  • Flip-top design: The stool-type flip-top design allows for “one-flip use” and automatically seals when closed. Some models support the use of garbage bags, simplifying the cleaning process.
  • Mobility: Integrated structures (such as bases with wheels) or lightweight designs (such as detachable legs) facilitate easy transportation and adapt to different room layouts.

5. Typical Product Features

For example, one model adopts a raised toilet seat (height approximately 45cm) to reduce the need for users to squat; another model is equipped with adjustable handrails to accommodate different arm lengths. Some products also integrate night light functions or toilet bucket capacity indicators to enhance the user experience.

Through comprehensive optimization of structure, materials, and functions, portable toilets have become an important auxiliary tool for the daily care of individuals with mobility issues, with designs that need to balance safety, hygiene, and ease of use.
