Police Investigate Mobile Toilet

Admin September 21, 2026

The police investigation into mobile toilets mainly involves two aspects: item recovery and theft case resolution.

Item Recovery

In public events such as large-scale races, it is not uncommon for items to be lost in mobile toilets, and the police actively intervene to investigate and recover them. For example, on March 29, 2024, during the Yangzhou Half Marathon, runner Ms. Jiang accidentally dropped her phone into a mobile toilet at the 6-kilometer mark. Since smooth track passage was crucial during the event, the police could not stay at the scene for an extended period to search. To ensure track order, the police drove to a centralized storage point in Daqiao Town, Jiangdu District, 30 kilometers away. This storage point housed a large number of mobile toilets, and the police had to search through them one by one. This process faced numerous difficulties, such as the large number of mobile toilets, the extensive search area, and the possibility that the phone could have fallen anywhere inside the mobile toilet. However, with patience and a sense of responsibility, the police ultimately succeeded in recovering the phone, safeguarding the public's property and demonstrating the police's proactive role in maintaining public event order and protecting public interests.

Theft Case Resolution

Mobile toilets can also become targets of theft, and the police employ various means to solve such cases. On the evening of August 29, 2024, the Daxing Police Station of the Hefei Public Security Bureau received a report that a mobile toilet located near the intersection of Tianmen Mountain Road and Longgang Road had been stolen. The police first retrieved surveillance footage from around the crime scene to trace the mobile toilet's whereabouts. After carefully reviewing the footage, they discovered that the stolen mobile toilet had entered a residential area in Yaohai District, Hefei. Subsequently, the police conducted further searches within the area and eventually found the stolen mobile toilet behind a supermarket. They then questioned the woman, Xia, who operated the supermarket. Xia admitted that due to the large number of people in her household and the inconvenience and time-consuming nature of the elderly using the toilet, she had become tempted when she saw the mobile toilet in a yard by the roadside while taking a walk. That evening, she enlisted two people to steal the mobile toilet under the pretext of moving items. Currently, Xia has been taken into criminal custody, demonstrating the police's professional capabilities and efficient execution in combating theft crimes and maintaining social order.
