Phone Falls into Mobile Toilet
Admin September 24, 2026
After a phone falls into a mobile toilet, it should be quickly retrieved and proper drying measures should be taken, while paying attention to operational safety.

Retrieving the Phone and Initial Handling
- Quick Retrieval: Once you discover that your phone has fallen into a mobile toilet, retrieve it as soon as possible. If the mobile toilet is a squat-type, do not reach in with your bare hands. Instead, use long tongs, fire pliers, or other tools to avoid incidents like a man getting his arm stuck in the squat hole while trying to retrieve his phone. If you are unable to retrieve it yourself, seek professional assistance.
- Immediate Shutdown: After retrieving the phone, turn it off immediately to prevent damage to the internal circuitry due to short circuits. If the phone has already automatically shut down, do not attempt to turn it back on, as this may worsen the malfunction.
- Remove SIM Card and Battery: If possible, remove the SIM card and battery (if the phone has a non-removable battery, skip this step). This reduces the risk of damage to the phone's internal components and facilitates subsequent drying.
Drying Treatment
- Avoid Using Rice for Moisture Absorption: It is not recommended to place the phone in rice for moisture absorption. Although rice has some moisture-absorbing properties, it works slowly and cannot absorb all the moisture, especially the dampness deep inside the phone, which may lead to hidden problems even after the phone is restored to use.
- Use Silica Gel Desiccants: Find some silica gel desiccant packs from old shoeboxes, packaging bags, etc. Place the phone and the desiccant packs together in a sealed bag. Silica gel desiccants can quickly absorb moisture and also draw out the dampness deep inside the phone, offering better results than rice.
- Wait for Sufficient Time: Seal the phone and desiccant packs and leave them for at least 48 hours to ensure the phone is completely dry inside. Do not frequently open the sealed bag to check during this period, as this may affect the drying effect.
Subsequent Inspection and Use
- Check Phone Functions: After 48 hours, take out the phone and reinstall the SIM card and battery (if removed), try to turn it on, and check if all functions are working properly. If the phone still does not work normally, it may indicate damage to internal components, and it is recommended to send it to a professional repair shop for inspection and repair.
- Back Up Important Data: If the phone is working properly, back up important data in a timely manner to prevent data loss during subsequent use.
