Movement of the Stool Position in the Toilet of a New House
The stool position in the toilet of a new house can be moved, but an appropriate method needs to be selected according to the moving distance, and relevant precautions should be taken.

Short-distance Movement (10 - 15 cm)
A toilet position shifter can be used. It is low-cost and easy to install. The common moving distance of a toilet position shifter is 5 to 10 cm, and in special cases, it can reach 15 cm. However, it is generally not recommended to exceed 15 cm. Installation should be carried out before laying floor tiles, and the greater the distance, the higher the requirement for the drainage slope. During construction, the floor may need to be lowered or raised. Using a toilet position shifter will increase the risk of toilet blockage and may also cause sewage backflow, affecting the flushing effect. Therefore, attention should be paid to the pipeline slope, and it is easier to make changes in sunken toilets.
Long-distance Movement
- Raising the Floor: Build a new platform to bury the pipes. The pipe diameter should be at least 110 mm, and the slope should be maintained at 2% to 3%. However, this method will sacrifice the floor height. If the floor height in the house is not high, careful consideration is required. Moving a short distance of 10 cm is relatively safe. If it exceeds 20 cm, the floor needs to be raised by 12 cm to increase the pipeline slope.
- Changing to Wall Drainage: The pipes run along the wall, eliminating the need to raise the floor. It is suitable for moving more than 50 cm, but generally, a false wall needs to be built. The original floor drainage can be transformed into wall drainage. There are two transformation methods: one is to transform using the original floor drainage toilet hole, and the other is to transform by redoing the drainage using the main pipe. During transformation, attention should be paid to the connection part between the outlet pipe of the toilet water tank and the sewage pipe. Since it is the connection of pipes of different materials, it is prone to leakage, so construction should be carried out carefully.
- Changing Pipes Downstairs: Neighbor's consent is required, and a waterproof test needs to be redone. The operation is relatively complex and involves communication and coordination with neighbors.
In addition, regardless of the method used, it is best not to move the toilet position unless absolutely necessary. After moving, ensure that the national standard slope of 0.02 is achieved. Same-floor drainage is relatively flexible, and caution is required when the pipes are downstairs. If the toilet is prone to blockage after moving, reduce the throwing of toilet paper or prepare a plunger to deal with possible blockages.
