Modular Housing System | Cartoon Treehouse Enables Diverse Building Types

This is a playful modular housing series that invites people to experience architecture through a child's eyes and feel closer to nature.

Architecture is a rigorous and profound craft with a long culture and history. You can see architects drawing on art, philosophy, literature, or nature in their projects. Looking at this scheme with a sense of play, the designers set out to shape a house that feels truly unique—not something you see everywhere. Its curious exterior makes it feel like one more member of the jungle's wildlife.

The design concept is a treehouse formed by the jungle. Like a tree trunk, the building meets the ground with a small footprint. All functions are stacked above and stretch outward in different directions. Leaf-shaped wood shingles on the facade keep varied brown tones, camouflaging the whole structure within the natural setting.

In regions that lack planted forests and woodworking trades, the primary timber structure can be replaced with steel. Though it is a small house, it still holds the potential to grow modules into larger structures—from garden houses to multi-family homes to hotels or urban buildings. As a modular housing system, every component is factory-prefabricated and then assembled on site.

The modular system lets teams respond to client needs quickly and easily. Owners tell the architects what they want in the plan—bedrooms, kitchen, living room, study, and bathrooms—and tailored layout options can be prepared at once, with full information on cost, size, and schedule, so clients clearly understand what remains uncertain in typical long-cycle design projects.

The building industry is increasingly shaped by efficiency and profitability. Our cities are dominated by reinforced-concrete frames and glass facades in the "International Style." Yet they feel like copies of copies of copies, making cities around the world look the same. Architecture as a profession needs more courage, more trials, and more experience as it moves toward a richer, more colorful urban future.
