Mobile Toilets on Construction Sites

Admin September 28, 2026

Mobile toilets on construction sites are facilities that can be moved as a whole to provide toilet services for workers.

I. Basic Components Mobile toilets on construction sites are generally composed of fecal sewage storage tanks (or fecal sewage treatment devices), floor slabs, sanitary ware, walls, washing equipment, water tanks, roofs, and mobile devices. These components work together to form a complete toilet space, meeting the basic physiological needs of workers on construction sites.

II. Material Development In terms of materials, mobile toilets were initially made of wood. Wood was relatively widely available and easy to process, but it was prone to decay and had a short service life. Later, materials such as fiberglass-reinforced plastic and polyethylene were gradually adopted. Fiberglass-reinforced plastic is light yet hard, non-conductive, has high mechanical strength, is less recyclable, and is corrosion-resistant. Polyethylene has excellent low-temperature resistance, good chemical stability, and can withstand the erosion of most acids and alkalis. The use of these materials has greatly improved the durability and practicality of mobile toilets.

III. Classification

  1. By structural form: They can be divided into single-structure mobile toilets and composite-structure mobile toilets. Single-structure mobile toilets are relatively simple and suitable for places with limited space or a small demand for the number of toilets. Composite-structure mobile toilets are more complex and can accommodate more functional areas and facilities to meet the needs of construction sites of different scales.
  2. By mobility method: They are classified into lifting and handling mobile toilets and powered and towed mobile toilets. Lifting and handling mobile toilets require external equipment for movement and are suitable for places with a low frequency of movement. Powered and towed mobile toilets have a certain degree of autonomous mobility, making movement more convenient and faster.
  3. By sewage treatment method: They are divided into water-flush and waterless-flush suction mobile toilets, circulating water-flush mobile toilets, and dry-packing mobile toilets. Water-flush toilets have a good cleaning effect but consume a certain amount of water resources. Waterless-flush suction toilets do not require water and treat feces by suction. Circulating water-flush toilets can recycle sewage, saving water resources. Dry-packing toilets pack feces for easy subsequent cleaning.

IV. Practical Application Cases For example, a young man used a water storage tank and a pallet to make a mobile toilet. There was also a customer in Zhejiang who customized mobile toilets for factory workers, setting different numbers of squatting positions according to the male-to-female ratio. In addition, there are 4 + 1 stepped mobile toilets with complete functions that can also be customized according to special needs.
