Mobile Toilet Tap Water

Admin October 08, 2026

There have been reports of mobile service halls using tap water from toilets for customers to drink, which is a serious violation of hygiene and ethical standards.

Event Overview

In Jinhua, Zhejiang, it was exposed that some mobile service halls were directly filling drinking water dispensers with tap water from toilets for customers to drink. The water buckets had turned green and emitted a foul odor, and this behavior had persisted for several months. The incident was reported by a security guard at the service hall, and after receiving the report, the local police station and health bureau conducted an investigation at the service hall. Additionally, a similar situation was found in a mobile service hall in Yiwu, where a security guard posted a video accusing the hall of providing free drinking water sourced from toilet tap water, with green traces on the bucket walls.

Responsibility Attribution

According to the information available, China Mobile's customer service responded that the drinking water in the service halls is managed independently by each hall and is not supplied uniformly by the company. This implies that the company may not be directly involved in the management or supervision of drinking water supply, delegating this responsibility to individual service halls. However, this does not mean the company can be completely absolved of responsibility. As a service provider, the company has a duty to ensure that the services provided in its business premises comply with hygiene and safety standards, including drinking water.

Supervision and Reporting

For such incidents, local authorities such as the health bureau should play a supervisory role, conducting regular inspections and monitoring of the drinking water supply in service halls. At the same time, consumers should actively report similar issues to relevant authorities to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.

Hygiene and Health Risks

Tap water from toilets may contain various bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances. Drinking it directly can pose serious health risks to the human body. Therefore, providing toilet tap water as drinking water in service halls not only violates hygiene standards but also seriously infringes on consumers' health rights.
