Specification Requirements for Mobile Toilets

Admin September 29, 2026

The specification requirements for mobile toilets cover multiple aspects, including structural classification, site selection, facility configuration, spatial layout, material selection, sanitary design, installation and placement, maintenance, and compliance procedures. Details are as follows:

1. Structural and Classification Specifications
Mobile toilets are classified by structural form into single-unit structures (independent units) and composite structures (multi-unit combinations); by mobility into hoisting/handling types (requiring manual or mechanical handling) and powered/trailer types (tractable for movement); and by sewage treatment into flush types, non-flush suction types (relying on vacuum suction), and recirculating flush types (where sewage is purified and reused). Different types are suitable for different scenarios, such as powered types for long-term fixed locations and trailer types for temporary events.

2. Site Selection and Layout Specifications
Sites should be located away from main thoroughfares, entrances/exits, and crowded areas, maintaining a minimum safety distance of 1.5 meters from building exteriors, avoiding low-lying areas prone to water accumulation and pollution sources (such as garbage dumps and sewage pipes). The surrounding ground should be solid and level for easy vehicle access and maintenance. For example, outdoor music festivals should choose open, well-drained venues to avoid disrupting pedestrian flow and emergency access.

3. Facility Configuration and Quantity Standards
Each mobile toilet should be equipped with basic facilities such as a flushing system, sink, toilet paper holder, and hooks. Some high-end models also include hand dryers, baby changing stations, or barrier-free facilities. Based on the number of users, it is estimated that one mobile toilet should be provided for every 50 people, such as at least 10 toilets for a 500-person event, to ensure demand during peak times.

4. Spatial and Size Requirements
The interior space should conform to ergonomics, with common dimensions ranging from 1.1 to 1.5 meters in length, 0.8 to 1.2 meters in width, and 2.3 to 2.7 meters in height, ensuring comfortable use for individuals of different body types. Barrier-free facilities should reserve a wheelchair turning space (diameter ≥ 1.5 meters), and children's facilities should lower the sink height (approximately 0.6 meters). The height of sinks and mirrors should be adapted to the average adult height (approximately 0.8 to 1 meter).

5. Material and Structural Stability
The exterior shell and interior walls and floors should be made of environmentally friendly materials such as stainless steel and fiberglass-reinforced plastic that are resistant to weathering and corrosion, extending service life and ensuring safety. The structural design should be stable, preventing deformation during transportation and installation, with an interior structure that facilitates cleaning and maintenance. The floor should be slip-resistant (e.g., with slip-resistant tiles or coatings).

6. Sanitary and Environmentally Friendly Design
Ventilation systems are crucial, requiring natural or mechanical exhaust to ensure air circulation and reduce odors. Some models use biodegradation technology to treat feces, reducing sewage discharge. Recirculating flush types should be equipped with efficient filtration devices to ensure water quality meets standards.

7. Installation and Placement Specifications
Upon arrival, fixed devices such as ground anchors and counterweights should be used to prevent displacement. Clear male/female signs should be placed outside the toilets, and nighttime lighting equipment (such as solar lights or LED lights) should be provided. When placing, maintenance access should be reserved for easy cleaning and equipment inspection.

8. Sanitary and Maintenance Requirements
The lessee should clean at least once daily, promptly remove garbage, and ensure no odors or stains. A simple toolkit (plunger, disinfectant) should be provided, with a response time of within 2 hours for repairs in case of malfunctions. Regularly inspect easily damaged parts such as the flushing system and locks to extend service life.

9. Compliance and Reporting Procedures
Before use, report to the local municipal department, specifying the time, location, and quantity, with some areas requiring submission of a floor plan. Choose a reputable rental company and confirm it has operational qualifications and safety measures to avoid legal risks from using unqualified equipment.
