Mobile Toilet Signage

Admin September 20, 2026

Mobile toilet signage should follow standardized designs to avoid privacy and safety issues, while also complying with national standards.

I. Design Should Be Reasonable to Avoid Problems
Some scenic spots have faced controversies due to unreasonable design of partition signage when introducing tidal toilets. The signage could be easily moved by hand, leading to confusion in areas and causing distress to users, as well as posing privacy and safety risks. For example, users might mistakenly enter the opposite-sex area due to unclear signage instructions, resulting in embarrassing situations. After identifying the issue, the scenic spots promptly made rectifications by replacing the movable signage with fixed doorplates, effectively resolving the problem. This indicates that the design of mobile toilet signage is crucial, and it must be clear, stable, and capable of accurately indicating toilet areas.

II. Common Signage Types Vary in Price
There are various types of toilet signage available in the market, with different prices. For instance, acrylic restroom identification signs, doorplates for restrooms, signs for men's and women's toilets, WC signs for public toilets, barrier-free identification waterproof signs are priced at 12.8 yuan; metal signage, surveillance indicator signs, toilet indicator signs, nameplates, safety warning signs, equipment logos that can be printed with logos are priced at 13.0 yuan; and gender-specific restroom guidance signs, acrylic restroom reminder signs, public toilet indicator signs are priced at 28.5 yuan, among others. However, these signs do not explicitly mention whether they are specifically designed for mobile toilets, but they can serve as references for selecting mobile toilet signage.

III. Comply with National Standards
National standards have clear regulations on toilet signage. The sign for men's toilets must use a trouser graphic accompanied by the characters '男' (Male) or 'Men', typically in dark colors such as black or blue. For public toilet signs, the male should be depicted as a person wearing trousers. Barrier-free toilets must use a separate wheelchair symbol, which should not be mixed with male and female signs, and should be installed on the wall beside the door without being obstructed by it, accompanied by Chinese and English text descriptions. Mobile toilet signage should also adhere to these standards to ensure its standardization and universality, facilitating use by different groups of people.
