Homemade Mobile Toilet

Admin September 20, 2026

There are mainly two feasible methods for making a homemade mobile toilet: using a water storage tank to create a movable toilet and using diapers and plastic bags to make a simple mobile toilet. As the process of using a water storage tank to make a solar-powered mobile toilet has not been described in detail, specific operations cannot be provided for now.

Making a Movable Toilet Using a Water Storage Tank

  1. Prepare materials and tools: You need to prepare materials such as a water storage tank, wooden boards, universal wheels, wooden strips, self-tapping screws, angle grinders, sponge strips, plastic soft boards, white waterproof paint, foam strips, discarded honeycomb wooden boards, drainage pipes, plastic buckets, direct connectors, water pipes, bath heaters, three-way joints, shower heads, toilets, water tanks, glass glue, and sewage tanks, as well as corresponding tools like angle grinders.
  2. Specific production steps:
    • Use an angle grinder to split the water storage tank in half from the middle. Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the wooden board for easy movement.
    • Take wooden strips and fix them on the upper side of the tank with self-tapping screws to increase the height. Use an angle grinder to open a door on the side of the water storage tank and install sponge strips on both sides of the door to form a door frame.
    • Insert plastic soft boards between the wooden strips to form an elevated wall. Place the upper half of the water storage tank on the top of the wooden strips to form a roof. Paint the wooden strips with white waterproof paint to enhance aesthetics.
    • Use foam strips to splice discarded honeycomb wooden boards to make a simple door. Open a hole at the bottom of the tank and install a drainage pipe to form a floor drain.
    • Open holes on the side and bottom of the plastic bucket and connect them with direct connectors. Place the plastic bucket on the roof to form a small water storage device. Connect the bath heater made of water pipes, install a three-way joint below the water inlet pipe, and connect a shower head.
    • Place the toilet on the hole of the drainage pipe, install the water tank, and fix it with glass glue. Connect the drainage pipe to the sewage tank. Horizontally connect a water pipe from the three-way joint of the outlet pipe to the door as the water inlet pipe for the sink, and install corresponding components at the joints.

Making a Simple Mobile Toilet Using Diapers and Plastic Bags

When taking children on a self-drive tour, take out some of the cotton and absorbent particles from the diapers and stuff them into a sealed plastic bag. Use the absorbency of the diaper cotton to handle urine. If the child needs to have a bowel movement, a large plastic bag can be used. You can also use a small cardboard box with a plastic bag underneath as a mobile toilet. If possible, you can add a small packet of superabsorbent polymer to the sealed plastic bag. When it comes into contact with water, the outer packaging will automatically melt, enhancing the absorbency.
