Mobile Toilet Handrail Height

Admin October 10, 2026

The height of handrails in mobile toilets needs to be determined according to specific usage scenarios and facility types, with common standards as follows:

In general design, some accessible restrooms are equipped with two layers of handrails, upper and lower, to meet the needs of different groups of people. The height of the upper handrail is usually 0.90 meters, suitable for scenarios requiring higher support force, such as assisting users in exerting force when getting up or moving, providing a stable gripping point to help them maintain balance and complete the action; The height of the lower handrail is usually 0.65 meters, facilitating gripping by users with lower heights or those requiring low-position support, such as children or seated users, meeting their support needs at lower positions.

In the toilet area, there are also clear standards for handrail height. The height of the horizontal handrail above the ground is generally 0.70 meters, with a spacing width between 0.70 meters and 0.80 meters. This design makes it convenient for wheelchair users to grip when transferring to the toilet, providing stable support and facilitating the transfer from the wheelchair to the toilet. The vertical height of the handrails on both sides (from the ground to the top edge of the handrail) is usually 650mm - 850mm, with the specific height being such that users can easily grip with their hands hanging naturally in a seated position; the inner side is 350mm - 400mm from the centerline of the toilet to accommodate people of different body types, ensuring that users of different body types can grip the handrails conveniently in a seated position.

The vertical height of handrails in the shower area is usually 700mm - 900mm. Due to differences in the heights of different users and shower stools, this height needs to be adjusted according to the actual situation to ensure that users can grip the handrails safely and conveniently during showering to prevent slipping.

The height of handrails in the urinal area varies depending on the type of urinal. For low-position urinals (height less than 0.45 meters), the handrails are usually installed on the side, with a height of 1.18 meters above the ground, facilitating gripping by standing or seated users to maintain balance. The vertical height of the handrails on both sides is usually 650mm - 750mm, meeting the gripping height of male users' hands hanging naturally when standing, while avoiding being too low to cause collisions or too high to make it difficult to exert force.
