Mobile Toilet Construction Methods

Admin September 24, 2026

There are mainly three methods for constructing mobile toilets, and you can choose the appropriate plan according to the materials and needs:

1. Construction Using a Water Storage Barrel

  1. Basic Structure: Split a water storage barrel in half with an angle grinder. Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board for mobility. Use wooden strips and self-tapping screws to secure the top of the barrel, increasing the height to form a frame.
  2. Walls and Roof: Create an opening on the side of the water storage barrel for the door. Install sponge strips to form the door frame and embed plastic soft boards to create raised walls. Invert the upper half of the barrel onto the top of the wooden strips to serve as the roof, and apply white waterproof paint to enhance aesthetics.
  3. Functional Components:
    • Drainage System: Drill a hole at the bottom of the barrel and install a drain pipe to form a floor drain. Connect direct fittings to the side and bottom holes, and insert a plastic bucket as a small water storage device.
    • Bathing Facilities: Connect a bath heater made from a water pipe. Install a three-way fitting below the inlet pipe and connect a showerhead.
    • Sanitary Facilities: Place a toilet and install a water tank, securing it with glass glue. Connect the drain pipe to a sewage bucket, and extend the outlet pipe horizontally to the door as the inlet pipe for a handwashing basin.
    • Door: Use foam strips to拼接 (assemble) discarded honeycomb wooden boards to make a simple door. Drill holes in the door to install fittings.

2. Construction Using a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet

  1. Mobile Base: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of a plastic pallet and place a water storage tank recovered from a garbage station on it.
  2. Tank Modification: Use an angle grinder to cut along the marked line on the top of the water storage tank to remove the top. Stack two open tank bodies and secure the outer frame with self-tapping screws. Cut a rectangular opening 180 cm high and 50 cm wide as the door opening.
  3. Internal Facilities:
    • Drainage System: Drill a hole in the floor inside the tank, insert an elbow and a water pipe, seal it with glue, and cut off the excess part. Place the toilet aligned with the drain hole and secure it with glue.
    • Water Supply System: Fix a water pipe on the wall with clips and install a faucet. Secure a pipe cap with screws below it, connect the water pipe, and drill a hole as the outlet for the drain pipe. Drill a hole in the pipe cap, apply glass glue, and fix a stainless steel basin as a handwashing basin.
    • Other Facilities: Connect the inlet pipe of the toilet water tank and the shower hose, install a spray-type showerhead and a toilet seat. Make a door body with wooden boards and hinges and install a door handle.

3. Construction of a Mobile Toilet Using Discarded Tiles

  1. Base Production: Place the toilet on a tile, draw a marked line along the edge, and cut out a rectangular tile block slightly larger than the bottom of the toilet. Install universal wheels at the four corners of the tile, drill holes, insert threaded rods, and secure them, cutting off the protruding threaded rods on the back.
  2. Toilet Fixation: Place the toilet again, draw a line along the edge, and mark the position of the sewage outlet. Insert a hose from the bottom of the tile and secure it. Apply white cement and glue the toilet according to the marked line.
  3. Functional Completion: Move the toilet with the installed base to the bathroom, install the water tank, tighten the plastic fasteners, cover the lid, and install the toilet seat. Connect the sewage hose to the drain pipe and the inlet pipe of the water tank.
