Cold Protection Design for Mobile Toilets

Admin September 26, 2026

The cold protection design of mobile toilets achieves stable operation in extreme environments through multi-dimensional technical means, with core measures covering five aspects: basic insulation, pipeline freeze protection, active heating, innovative technology application, and detail optimization.

1. Basic Insulation System A double-layer wall structure is adopted to enhance thermal resistance performance: the outer layer is made of color-coated steel sheets or metal carved panels, the inner layer is fireproof boards, and the middle is filled with 5cm polyurethane foam or rock wool insulation layers, with a thermal conductivity as low as 0.024W/(m·K), improving insulation efficiency by 3 times compared to traditional materials. Measured data shows that in an environment of -35℃, this structure can maintain an indoor-outdoor temperature difference of over 25℃. Door and window seals use EPDM rubber strips, and ventilation openings are upgraded with temperature-controlled louver devices, reducing heat loss by 60%. The drainage system employs a three-dimensional insulation design, filling expanded perlite in the trap of the squat toilet and wrapping the pipeline with a 50mm thick insulation layer to form a heat loss barrier.

2. Pipeline Freeze Protection Technology The electric tracing system is the core protective measure: self-regulating heating cables are wrapped around the pipeline at a power of 8W/M, and an intelligent temperature control box automatically activates when the ambient temperature drops below 5℃. An aluminum foil heat conduction layer ensures that a total power of 75W can maintain a pipeline surface temperature of ≥5℃ in an environment of -15℃. The drainage pipeline adopts the same technology, with double protection (heating cable + expanded perlite) implemented for the trap of the squat toilet. The power supply system is equipped with a current overlimit alarm device, which automatically cuts off the power in case of a fault. Auxiliary measures include covering the pipeline with rubber insulating sleeves and adding double-layer insulation materials to key nodes such as valves.

3. Active Heating Solutions The electric heating system achieves rapid temperature rise through PTC ceramic heating elements, increasing the temperature in the toilet area by 15℃ within 5 minutes, with the surface temperature controlled below 60℃ to ensure safety. The air conditioning system is equipped with temperature sensors for automatic constant temperature control. In extreme climates, a fuel-fired hot air system is activated, with a 30,000kcal/h power hot air blower evenly distributing air through ducts, raising the temperature of a 5㎡ space by 15℃ within 30 minutes. Scenic spots with conditions can connect to the municipal central heating system for continuous heating through radiators.

4. Innovative Technology Application The waste heat recovery system utilizes the 50-60℃ hot air generated by the aeration fan of the treatment equipment to preheat the water body, improving energy utilization efficiency. The intelligent control system integrates temperature sensing, power regulation, and fault alarm functions, supporting 24-hour unattended operation and real-time monitoring and optimization of energy consumption.

5. Detail Optimization Design Key components adopt freeze-resistant toilets made of low-temperature-resistant plastic materials. The fecal storage tank is designed with a sloped bottom and a reinforced drainage valve to prevent residue from freezing and clogging. The flushing water tank is added with a special environmentally friendly antifreeze to lower the freezing point of the water body, ensuring normal flushing function in low-temperature environments.
