Design Dimensions of Mobile Public Toilets
Admin October 13, 2026
The design dimensions of mobile public toilets need to comprehensively consider external transportation constraints and internal usage requirements, which can be broadly categorized into overall external dimensions and internal functional area dimensions, while also taking into account factors such as ergonomics, transportation feasibility, and usage scenario demands.

I. Overall External Dimensions
- Single-Stall Specifications: Length ranges from 1.2 meters to 1.5 meters, width from 1.0 meter to 1.2 meters, and height from 2.2 meters to 2.5 meters. These specifications are suitable for small-scale events or temporary venues, facilitating flexible deployment.
- Multi-Stall Combination Specifications: For two-stall units, the length ranges from 2.4 meters to 3.0 meters, with a width of 1.0 meter to 1.2 meters; large container-style public toilets can exceed 6 meters in length and 2.5 meters in width, housing multiple stalls and a management room, suitable for high-traffic areas (such as concerts and food festivals).
- Transportation Constraints: The total width should not exceed the width of the carrying vehicle's chassis, the container height should preferably not exceed 2.5 meters, and the total carrying height should not exceed 4.0 meters to ensure passage through height-restricted areas such as bridges and tunnels, and to be compatible with transportation vehicles like flatbed trucks.
II. Internal Functional Area Dimensions
- Regular Stalls: The net width should be no less than 0.85 meters, with an ideal range of 0.9 meters to 1.0 meters; the net depth should range from 1.2 meters to 1.5 meters to accommodate the toilet fixture and necessary movement space; the door width should be no less than 0.6 meters, with some cases requiring a stall area of no less than 1.4 meters × 0.95 meters (length × width).
- Accessible Stalls: The internal net width should be at least 1.5 meters, and the net depth should be at least 1.8 meters to accommodate wheelchair rotation and meet accessible design standards.
- Management Room: The area should be no less than 2.2 meters × 1.1 meters (length × width), used for storing cleaning tools, consumables, and providing temporary rest for management personnel.
- Aisle Width: For single-row stalls with outward-opening doors, the aisle width should preferably be 1.30 meters and not less than 1.00 meters; for double-row stalls with outward-opening doors, the aisle width should preferably range from 1.50 meters to 2.10 meters to ensure smooth pedestrian flow.
III. Design Considerations
- Ergonomics: Ensure that users have sufficient movement space, such as the depth of the stall accommodating the toilet fixture and necessary movement space, to avoid inconvenience due to cramped conditions.
- Transportation Feasibility: The external dimensions should be compatible with transportation vehicles, and the height should consider bridge height restrictions and the installation of ventilation equipment to avoid transportation difficulties due to oversized dimensions.
- Usage Scenario Demands: High-traffic areas should adopt multi-stall combinations or large container-style designs to improve usage efficiency; temporary venues can opt for single-stall specifications to reduce costs.
IV. Common Misconceptions
- Avoid choosing overly small dimensions to save costs, as this may lead to turnover difficulties during peak seasons and affect the user experience.
- Note that the actual internal space of special types of public toilets (such as foam-flush types) may be wider than their external appearance suggests, so sufficient allowance should be reserved during design.
