Military Prefabricated Modular Housing

Admin September 18, 2026

Military prefabricated modular housing is a type of housing designed for military needs, capable of rapid construction, flexible combination, possessing multiple functions, and adapting to different environments, with various application forms across different military branches.

Air Force: The new box-type combined 'mobile barracks' are a typical example. They can be freely assembled into independent units from various forms such as box-type combined panel houses and steel-structure panel houses according to different functional modules like offices, conference rooms, and dormitories. Each group consists of 12 standard modular combined panel houses, including accommodation houses and work houses, which can accommodate 48 to 60 officers and soldiers. The space size can also be adjusted according to the actual needs of the troops through combination and assembly. The panel houses are equipped with generator sets, air conditioners, and other facilities. For harsh environments such as high-altitude cold regions and desert wastelands, enhanced designs for electrical safety, fire prevention, and wind-sand resistance have been implemented. With complete配套 (Note: '配套' is translated as 'supporting facilities' in context, but here kept as '配套' in pinyin to show original term which can be further refined if needed in final text) facilities, high integration, and easy assembly and disassembly, four box-type combined panel houses that can accommodate 400 officers and soldiers can be constructed and ready for occupancy in less than half a month. For example, the modular barracks developed to solve the short- and medium-term accommodation problems of ground service personnel at an airport in northwest China resemble long containers, are equipped with air conditioners, and several standard modules can be combined to form functional houses such as conference rooms.

Army: The 'demountable' barracks are a major project of the army, jointly developed by the army and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to meet the needs of temporary deployment, emergency response training, and border and coastal defense outpost support. Using 'box-type steel-structure integration' technology, they are composed of container modules and walkway modules. Four operators can complete the installation of one container module in an average of 30 minutes. They can be disassembled and reused multiple times, flexibly combined into houses of different floors and sizes, with complete internal water and electricity facilities, and possess functions such as earthquake resistance, fire prevention, sound insulation, and heat insulation. For the special environment of border and coastal defenses, models with mortise-and-tenon steel structures and self-powering and heat-preservation functions have been developed.

Russian Army: The barracks used by the internal affairs troops stationed in Vladivostok for field training, due to the training ground being in dense forests and heavy snow in winter, have chosen semi-cylindrical barracks in the shape of Eskimo igloos. The metal housing modular components can be freely combined and are painted with camouflage, exuding a strong military flavor.

In addition, some companies in the market also provide products related to military container houses, such as Henan Tianhong Integrated Housing Co., Ltd., which offers a variety of military container house products.
