Microbial Mobile Toilet

Admin October 22, 2026

A microbial mobile toilet is an environmentally friendly mobile toilet that utilizes microbial degradation technology to achieve harmless treatment of excreta, featuring water and energy conservation, strong adaptability, and intelligent management.

Technical Principles and Treatment Process
This toilet decomposes feces through microbial flora, with the core reaction taking place in a fermentation and degradation tank. The flora convert organic matter into carbon dioxide, water, and organic fertilizer. Some models employ solid-liquid separation technology, requiring an initial injection of 70-80 kilograms of water to activate the flora, followed by water-saving or waterless flushing operations. The bottom of the fermentation tank is equipped with an approximately 800W heating device, which promotes the mixing of excreta and microbial strains through mechanical agitation, ensuring decomposition efficiency. An intelligent temperature control system maintains the tank temperature above 60℃, providing both sterilization and disinfection functions to prevent odors and pathogen growth.

Structural Design and Functional Configuration
The main structure includes a squatting pan, fermentation and degradation tank, exhaust pipe, forced ventilation device, and an electrical PLC constant temperature and humidity control system. The toilet body adopts a steel frame structure covered with insulation materials (such as color steel plates or carved panels), supporting use in extreme environments ranging from -28℃ to 50℃, with a design lifespan exceeding 20 years. Some high-end models integrate 5G or IoT modules, enabling remote monitoring of operational status, microbial activity, and energy consumption data for intelligent management.

Applicable Scenarios and Advantages
Suitable for waterless and electricity-free areas (such as deserts and plateaus), scenic spots, high-altitude water-scarce regions, and temporary public facilities. Its core advantages include:

  • Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation: Waterless flushing and waste removal, saving over 3,000 tons of water per toilet annually (as demonstrated by the Chengdu carbon-neutral public toilet case), and reducing sewage discharge;
  • Economic Efficiency: The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics application showed that the construction cost per toilet was 100,000 yuan lower than that of traditional water toilets, with annual maintenance costs around 15,000 yuan;
  • Adaptability: Universal 220V voltage support, customizable specifications, and rapid deployment capabilities for emergency scenarios or densely populated areas.

Maintenance and Operational Costs
Microbial strains need to be replaced every 3-6 months, with domestic strains costing approximately 300 yuan per toilet and imported strains around 500 yuan. Daily power consumption ranges from 3-5 kWh (adjustable based on usage frequency and regional temperature), with heating devices accounting for the majority of energy consumption. The fermentation tank requires periodic cleaning of residues, but at a frequency much lower than that of traditional toilet waste removal cycles.
