Metal Prefabricated Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

Metal prefabricated houses, centered around metal materials such as steel structures, light steel structures, and color-steel sandwich panels, are a form of construction widely applied in multiple fields. In 2024, the industry as a whole has made steady progress with new characteristics emerging in various aspects.

In terms of product structure: Light steel structure houses dominate low-rise buildings, accounting for 62.3% of the market share in 2024. They offer advantages such as light weight, short construction periods, and the ability to be disassembled and reused, making them suitable for scenarios like logistics parks and temporary office spaces. Heavy steel structure houses are mainly used in high-rise industrial plants and large public buildings, representing a relatively small proportion but maintaining a contribution rate of 37.7% to the industry's overall output value.

Regarding regional market distribution: The East China region continues to lead with a 31.5% market share, benefiting from the expansion of manufacturing and logistics industries in Jiangsu and Shandong. The South China region accounts for 26.8%, driven by urban renewal and infrastructure construction in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The North China region holds 21.4%, with the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region promoting the adoption of prefabricated buildings. The Central China, Southwest, and Northwest regions together account for 20.3%, with growth potential gradually being released as urbanization in the central and western regions accelerates.

In the corporate competition landscape: Industry concentration has increased, with the combined market share of the top five companies reaching 43.6% in 2024, up 2.1 percentage points from 2023. Hangxiao Steel Structure leads the industry with a 12.8% market share, boasting significant technological advantages in green buildings and modular housing. Jinggong Steel Structure has a 10.5% market share, benefiting from continuous successful bids for large projects such as industrial plants and sports venues. Honglu Steel Structure, Southeast Space Frame, and China Construction Steel Structure also hold certain market shares.

Regarding export situation: In 2024, China's export value of metal prefabricated houses reached 9.87 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%. Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa are the main export markets, collectively accounting for over 70%. Vietnam, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia have strong demand for infrastructure construction, and companies are actively expanding into countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, promoting product standardization and localized production.

In terms of technological innovation: In 2024, the industry's R&D investment intensity reached 3.2%, higher than the average level of the construction industry. The application rate of BIM technology has increased to 68%, improving design efficiency and construction accuracy. Smart manufacturing technology has been adopted by some leading companies.
